odd ferrule materials

What is the craziest matetials used for ferrules. I used the black spacer from a flat screen TV mount on my break cue and was supprised at the way it broke. It dosen't shine when polished but does the job. Been trying to break/crack it but can't seem to do so.
 
I've seen a few on here made from the billiard ball itself (I believe it was yellow and the #1 ball it was made out of) and also one made from a bowling ball on here before.
 
bamboo

i used strand woven engineered bamboo, it is very strong and very light.
