offensive ipt commentators

I'm a fat white guy, i know it. If someone makes a fat guy joke on TV i don't get upset, its just a comment or a joke. Maybe soon there will be a "FCC" censoring what we can say to each other, just in case someone might feel offended.

Very true. Too much PC policing going on. You can't say anything anymore because you're inevitably offending someone.

Everyone was so upset about Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic remarks made when he was drunk (which certainly aren't OK, but it's not like it's the first time anyone ever said anything dumb when they were drunk), yet you rarely heard anyone upset about the fact that Mel was driving drunk, which quite frankly I believe is a bigger problem.

I too thought the commentating of Gabe and Czetli(?) was great! True, they were pretty immature sometimes but it was a very nice contrast to the mature and proper style of Allison and Deno. I guess Deno doesn't have too much to say lately though, the IPT really needs to pay these guys. See you guys on the table...................Marc

I, on the other hand, was irritated to no end by Gabe and Aaron's commentary. Not because it was offensive or anything, but because it was so immature. I remember they were arguing about the shots both players were going to take, you know, "Efren's gonna do this"...."no he's not, you're crazy, Efren's gonna do this"...etc. I was almost tempted to just turn off my speakers.

I prefer the more proper, analytical approach of Deno and Allison myself. Or better yet, bring on Mark Wilson. Pay the man and have him come in and do commentary. There's noone better, IMO. Or even Jim Wych would be good. Either Mark Wilson or Jim Wych, and perhaps a slightly more colorful personality as a second person, maybe even Billy Incardona. Although, for the time being, I guess Billy is busy playing in the IPT.

Gee, this sounds like everything else on EARTH. Some people like it, some don't.........and some could care less.

Write to the IPT if you feel so strongly for or against the commentary and let them know how you feel, they are looking for feedback so give it to them.

I am with you Scott. I can't stand the hypocrisy. Some people love to make jokes about others but get really offended when you turn it around. I say that we be less politically correct but genuinely respectful. THEN we can laugh at ourselves without feeling insecure.

Those are "offensive" sports commentators?

You obviously haven't seen the South Park episode, Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride, in which the commentator on the big football game between the South Park Cows and Middle Park Cowboys says things like,

"The score is 7-nothing Middle Park, with 14:57 remaining in the first quarter! Why, I haven't seen a beating like that since Rodney King!"

The Cowboys blitz Pip, the little British kid...

"Oh no! I haven't seen an Englishman take a blow like that since Hugh Grant!"

"The South Park Cows are being absolutely molested by the Middle Park Cowboys. I haven't seen a bunch of kids molested like that since Michael Jackson came to town!"

"And he throws it to Kyle, the little Jewish kid. Oh my! I haven't seen a Jew run like that since Poland, 1938!"

sometimes the only way to deal with certain situations is to bring "them" into a more humorous light. you don't see jeff foxworthy getting sued for dissin' southern kinfolk. and he's brutal. the funny part is, with most of the material used from all comedians, there's usually some ring of truth in allot of it. is some of it distastefull? yes. but we don't have to get our undies in a bunch everytime someone opens there mouth. let's all lighten up and go back to runnin' racks and lookin' at our cues.

I found it interesting how the commentary followed the general stereotype of their native country, and their general games of choice. For Example:

Deno Andrews, 3- Cushion = Gentleman

Allison Fisher, Snooker = Lady

Ralph Souquet, 14:1 = Gentleman

Tony Robles, 14:1 = Gentleman

Aaron and Gabe, 9 Ball = well... American 9-ball players.

Some may not like it but hey, face it, we americans have the worst stereotype for pool players in the entire world.

The commentary in question, having it broadcast all over the world, did not do any favors for the american's reputation.

I still say bring back Sid Wadell!! He may sound crazy as hell, and it could sometimes be difficult to understand what's he's saying, but damn, he sure knows how to make things sound exciting!

ditto
i still remember when he was commentating on how this kid was biting his chocolate lol i think that was when busta was playing efren.

I guess I should have thrown in some smileys. I found the comments in South Park's "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride" utterly hilarious, not offensive! :D

yea but chicken feet?...gives me the willys. :(
chicken feet are considered here as street foods... you can see them on the streets being grilled... they take the skin off then marinate them in some BBQ sauce. if tried one before, and they taste good. they also make good "pulutan"

What some people have may have over looked is the fact that they talked pool inbetween the jokes. They also gave praise to the players at the table. I'm tired of Allison and deno trying to guess what players that could give them the 6 out are about to do.

This from a pickled fish eater ? I'll bet you sometimes eat cold cuts and cheese for breakfast ! :D :D (joke alert)

PS I've never seen a blood food around here, which may be one reason I love Canada ;)

Dammit Dave, didn't want this conversation take a turn into talking about Finnish "cuisine". Let's just leave it there, mmkay ? :D :o

EDIT: if you want a little bit different commentary, watch Accu-Stats x-rated tape Nolan-McCready. Hilarious !!!! :)

I've said this before:

Aaron and Gabe have immense respect for their fellow players, especially Efren. They were very excited to have been given the opportunity to commentate. Aaron loves to make people laugh (most often at his own expense), and he, Gabe, and Corey cut up like this all the time. Those of you who have tuned in to "Beyond The Break" have heard them poke fun jabs at everyone and each other.
Anyone who knows Aaron knows his sense of humour. Most of the times, the jokes he makes are at his own expense. He just loves to make people laugh. He means no offense to anyone, and I'm sure the players he commented on took none.
Everyone will have their preferences. Personally, I enjoyed the change. It sure beats the same old stuff we hear every match.

I was watching the match of Efren Reyes and Rodney Morris in Reno for the IPT event on the IPT website and was offended by the comments of Gabe Owen and another commentator. They were talking about Filipinos eating healthy foods such as grasshopper and caramelized chicken foot. How could they get away with this stuff? I can't believe how immature and ignorant they are. If they are going to be commentators, they need to be professional and not like act like idiots.

I watched the same match and couldn't believe the things that those idiots, Gabe and Aaron were saying. I mean how dare they try to make a pool match funny and entertaining. Making fun of them selves and the other players is not right, it kept me up laughing, instead of the power nap I was hoping to get while watching another boring match.

I also heard they have to do a lot of editing for the things Gabe and Aaron said on the D. Peach and Ralf S. match that they commentated on as well. That is why it's the only match that can't be viewed now. I certainly won't be watching that match with the volume on, if I plan to get any sleep at all. amc

Well..they seemed to be enjoying themselves quite a bit, and tried to entertain quite a bit. The way I see it, that was not the intention. They were supposed to comment/give insight on the match at hand, which provided all the entertainment. Not continously take jabs at Efren´s voice/throw in a zillion terms that nobody except american pro´s can understand. I loved Allison with Lou Butera.

Well, I know an old man like you needs his sleep.

Do Golf commentators use terms everyone can understand? I don't believe so, neither do the guys on Monday night football. You do make a valid point about the insight thing though, I think most people want to learn from the commentary.

My .02 cents

I like Gabe's and Aaron's commentary. It was a refreshing break for the run of the mill commentary (although good at times). Of course, I like Sid Wadell too. You need a different perspective at times, and some excitement going on. I also like Allison and Lou together, but Lou was the one that threw in things that were different.

The impression I am left with Allison after listening to her commentary, is that she is mature, pleasant, cheery type, but not real exciting on a date...lol

And people try to take PC to extreme. This is just another example of our society going from a 'let the buyer beware' to a 'let the seller be responsible' mindset. Gee, lets all just sit around being Politically Correct, and be bored to death!!!

To quote those immortal words, F***'m if they can't take a joke!!!

Remember I'm 32 and your 30 on paper, but in girl years you take half your age, which is 15 and add it to your age of 30 and you get 45. So you are actually 13 years older than me, so soryboutchaz.
