Do Golf commentators use terms everyone can understand? I don't believe so, neither do the guys on Monday night football. You do make a valid point about the insight thing though, I think most people want to learn from the commentary.

There was a lot of information given up in the commentary the intire match, which people should of learned from if they listened to it. We even gave up some well keep information about the break and how to make the certain balls on the break.

I thought it was great

First of all, Gabe and Aaron were actually funny. How many times in sports commentary do you get that? Have you heard Mitch Laurance try and crack jokes?

Second, they know what they were talking about, and actually it was very informative. It's just that it wasn't boring and monotone, but the content was good.

Third, if you think they were insulting Efren, you weren't paying attention because every two minutes they kept saying that he is the best player of all time. It wasn't mean-spiritied or whatever, they were jokes.


I think that this type of commentary might be the best hope for actually making people other than poolplayers want to watch the matches, because it's entertaining. Too often on TV the commentary is like a tour guide in a museum.

I was watching the match of Efren Reyes and Rodney Morris in Reno for the IPT event on the IPT website and was offended by the comments of Gabe Owen and another commentator. They were talking about Filipinos eating healthy foods such as grasshopper and caramelized chicken foot. How could they get away with this stuff? I can't believe how immature and ignorant they are. If they are going to be commentators, they need to be professional and not like act like idiots.

Alex P. was the one that told us about the grasshoppers and Gabe saw the chicken feet first hand when he was over in the Philippians. About being immature and idiots, I would have to say you may be correct. We knew that there would be a bunch of people that hated us and some that liked us, but that was us being ourselves and we had fun and liked the oppertunity to commentate.

For the record, I LOVE CHICKEN FEET....DMGWalsh can attest to that....and I don't think that they are healthy at all, chicken feet are just skin and bones.

I also heard the comment on the IPT.

I thought they sounded kind of weird but had some at Phoenix in Chinatown with Ray and they were delish. Can't wait to get some more.
