Official hug earl thread!!!

I don't know if a juice bar is actually the right fit for Earl. :D

He is House Pro at Steinway and seems to enjoy a good following there.

He also is traveling the globe putting on exhibitions, the most recent of which I can remember is Ireland.

Efren is getting ready to play Earl at Steinway very soon. I can't remember the dates.

Me personally, it seems like in recent years, Earl's game has improved from a brief hiatus he took, and he's enjoying his time in New York City. He stays active there. :)

So USA lost. An exhibition where they all got paid. and got to sun in Vegas for and extra day instead of shoot pool.

Earl needs positive energy!

Mr. Strickland. Pool has given you all it can. get a job at a juice bar in NYC. You can run in many corporate roadrace events and hold speaking seminars about how to be a champion.

There are plenty of dished to be cleaned in NYC. washing dished is very theraputic. it calms the soul.

Please get out of the daily grind of pool life and get into the daily grind of delicious fruits and vegestables.

We all knew what we were risking when we put Earl on the team. If anything, blame those who put him in there.

I fail to see how Earl gets the blame for the poor outcome of the US team.
We all play this game and know how sometimes things just don't go so well at the table

What did Earl have to do with it?

I'm not a fan of the Earl of the last 7-8 years. I don't want to hear anything he has to say, just want to watch him run out when he can. Having said that, Earl was not the problem, it was a lack of good play over all by the team, a few bad rolls for sure and a better team on the other side.

A better team yes, better players maybe not, but they came together and played well and won. These guys are always in the heat of battle. They are always playing in big tournaments, matching up and they love to play.

The American players don't stay in action, don't travel and blame the game for their lack of financial success. I wish there was more money in pool, but I wish there was more money in fishing too, but theres not, so I fish and play pool when I can, but I work everyday...., so that I can play pool and fish, I still Love the game.

Some of what you state is very true. Pool has gone through a transition from the '80s, through the '90s, the 2000s, and here we are today. As I know you are aware, the payouts today are the same as they were in the '80s. In the '80s, a pro player may have been able to eke out a decent living on tournament winnings. Today, not so much.

As the industry is changing, with no governmental organization or tour, it is quite difficult to figure out why anyone would want to compete in professional pool, other than passion. With passion, if someone wants to be a pro player today, they must sacrifice, I guess, security in life.

There's only one or two Americans who can make ends meet or profit from pool, and we all know who they are. The rest of the guys are just goldfish scrambling in the global pool fish bowl for a few flakes of food thrown their way. :frown:

I have said it before, many years ago, and I will say it again. Earl is best when he's putting on exhibitions. People love him, and he loves the fans. That's where he shines, just like the video links in this thread. There's no pressure on him. He can just relax and show off his champion-like skills on the table. That's when Earl is at his best.

I don't blame Earl for the loss. I just wish he would have represented the team with better sportsmanship.

Pool does not give anything to anyone. Everything in the game of pool, you need to earn it.

Have you spoke to Earl lately?

So you think a world champion pool player needs to wash dishes for therapeutic reasons?

What do you think the rest of Team USA should be doing?

In case you didn't know, Earl has probably the busiest schedule of all pool players in the USA. Pool does not give it to him...he has earned everything the hard way and keeps going.

Do you wash dishes?:rotflmao1:

My daughter is going to NYC in a week & she plans on stopping in to see him while she's there. My parents just saw him in Vegas at the Mosconi & he couldn't quite place my mom until she said she was Ashley's nana lol.
