I grew up around the Cincy/Dayton area. I moved away about 10 years ago; however, I believe Airway in Dayton and Michael's in Fairfield (suburb of Cincy) are probably the two places with the best players.Zims Rack said:Where in Ohio is most of the pool rooms found? Oh yeah, i forgot about Canton, Ohio. I hear Fiddlestix is another great place to play.Sweet Marissa said:Chris Szuter owns Fiddlestix in Canton. I don't know how far that is from the cities you listed, though.
Viking has a tour up there, as well, so you could check with Mike Janis or Shawn Putnam.
Club Billiards said:Fiddlestix in Canton in awesome. Airway in Dayton is still there although I've heard they are having a tough time. Michael's in Cincy is working on negotiations last time I hear to get the rent down. Cornfed Red's in Columbus is still there, but last I heard, that part of town is getting pretty rough. Sportsman's is still in Columbus and I guess they do alright. Pretty cool place in my opinion.
It's rough in Ohio right now. Especially in Cincinnati where people can go right across the river to Kentucky to smoke. I think a lot of places and a lot of players still haven't adjusted to the smoking ban. My hope is that in a couple years when bars and poolrooms and clubs retrofit their establishment with a way to cater to smokers again, it may ease the pressure. It's either that or smokers will have to adjust to going out without stopping what they are doing every 5 minutes to have a smoke.
Just within 15 minutes of where I live, Playtime Billiards, Bank Shot Billiards and the place I ran, Club Billiards all closed within the last year or two. I know of several other places in Cincy and Columbus that closed within the last two years.
Local leagues are down. I didn't play in the BCA this year, but from what one of the officials said, the VNEA/OCMA state tournament was down 50 teams from last year. They normally have around 350-400.

i only met him once. seemed alrightClub Billiards said:They need anyone to recover all those tables?
That always was a cool place, but those old Nationals were getting pretty beat up. How are the new owners?
Cue Freak said:Moving to Dayton the beginning of July. I started a thread yesterday seeing if anyone was up there. I see you're in Dayton as well, how's the area?
Matt
Club Billiards said:Yeah, Dayton is ok. There's not much going on here though. Airway Billiards is decent. Myself, I go to King's Table in Beavercreek just east of Dayton. Best burgers in town!He has some decent tables over there and it's a great league bar.
What brings you to Dayton?
