OK Gremlin, here's one for you. Name the players

I think it's the Oakridge Boys.........All kidding aside, I think I recognize one of them, but since there is no kibitzing, I'm just going to keep quiet.

$bill,
I was looking over some old posts, mainly to find pictures. I came upon the one you posted to Gremlin asking him to identify the players. I Don't reconize a couple of them but is the gentleman standing next to Jeremy Jones Norm "The Farmer" Webber? I watched him do his trick shot shows back in the 70's and it sure looks like him. Who is the man standing on the far right? It doesn't look like Jimmy Moore.

I'm not sure....but I think this is Jean Balukas.

Where did you come up with that picture, Hemi?

That was Red's fundraising tournament, shortly before the cancer got the best of him.

Far left is WT, Red, unknown, Junior Norris, Sea Turtle (now Double J), and Reeves Smith.

Great photo

I got the photo from Larry "Brillo" Olmstead, Senor. He has a ton of them. Got the Steve Gumphrey Memorial tourney photo from him too. You might know him. Use to run with Scotty T. and others. He's one of the good guys for sure.

Hi Hemi,

I am not talking? LOL My Irish Garandmother used to say when there is snow on the roof there is a fire in the furnace.

How is the BCA Hall of Fame going to keep the gamblers out? Everyone in your photo is a gambler and proud of it.

Cheers,

Gremlin

Would not the answer to that is for them to make a sub section for them, like they do for writers. That seperates them from the world champions and trophy players.

I am clueless on all of the players, but I just wanted to comment that I enjoyed this post. This is more good stuff we should have on this forum. Thanks $Bill for submitting a good read.

How ya doin Jerry? That would be ok if the assumption that the trophy players didn't gamble were true. You can't name even one player, now in the HOF, that didn't gamble. They all did it. Some, it could be said, were more like thieves than gamblers but that is how it had to be if a player was to make a living. There sure as hell wasn't enough money in tournaments to live on. The only reason players today can survive is sponsors. Ronnie Allen and Grady Mathews have won their share of tournaments and are not in the HOF. Ronnie is the greatest one pocket and one handed player in history and Grady has done more to advance the game of billiards than anyone walking the planet. Grady not only has given time, energy, knowledge and the re-invention of the Ring Game but Grady has given untold amounts of his own cash to further the game we all love. The BCA is shameless in it's shunning of these two deserving pros.

At night when we close, one of the bartender's jobs is to make sure all the balls are in their trays and behind the counter. However, for the past several days, when I open in the morning there have been balls on table 8. To solve the mystery, we setup a digital camera with a motion sensor.

Below is the image of what appears to be a ghost captured by my Kodak. Perhaps he was a frustrated player while here on Earth and now is coming back from the afterlife to work on his game.
