I don't consider myself a collector, but I find myself with a handful of cues and cases that I'm never going to sell. So I must be collecting them for no particular reason.

Fred's Cues

Jim Buss, Gilbert J/B, Gilbert, Fanelli, Schon (1981, first year), Layani, Schuler SLC (spliced), Schuler (Pantograph), Schuler (old Oak), FURY Jump Cue :) , Schuler, Sheldon Lebow SP.

Missing: Murray Tucker
Purposefully Missing: Cobra, Meucci, Maximum, Players...

Fred's Cases

Whitten (everyday case), Instroke Saddle, Jack Justis Pro-Lite, older Instroke Cowboy, old It's George, another gorgeous Jack Justis

And a couple of smaller cases, one of which is my very first case, the faux snakeskin. LOL!!

Missing: my J&J 12/24 which might now be too small

OK, the Fanelli is a beauty, your cues are quite nice and that old Schon is a real keepsake, but that must be the first Jack Justis Pro-Lite made, right? Plus it looks like it's signed and dated on the bottom. Now don't get silly and start using that thing, OK? Just wrap it in plastic and lock it up. If you are ever tempted to use the case, I'll give you a support group hotline you can call. ;)

Chris

Ps. I really like the Buss a lot and the 2nd Gilbert is pretty too.

I think Jack brought the first Pro-Lite prototype to the BCA Nationals in May. That's when Jack and I started working on this one. I assume he's made a few dozen by now, before I got mine.

I've used it at a couple of tournaments. That's probably when I'll really be bringing it out. Maybe I need to order a "plainer" one for regular use?

BTW, Jack Justis will be featured in the Cue Makers Corner article for November 2005 InsidePOOL Magazine.

You mean my words didn't wreck your enthusiasm for cues? I just hope my post doesn't stop you from buying a cue from MB.

nice collection you've got there Fred :), the marking on the Pro Lites caught my attention since it was signed by Jack himself.

Overall your cue collection looks great!!!

BTW way is that a purpleheart SP?

The Sheldon Lebow is a simple purpleheart sneaky pete, probably started life as a Valley Supreme or similar. The joint collar and butt cap are cocobolo.

Nice cues & cases Fred!!!!

The cue that jumped out at me was the Schuler spliced cue.

I had each person that works at the Schuler Cue initial that spliced cue.

I also had Ray's wife Cathy Schuler sign the old oak merrywidow cue since it was born during a time that Ray didn't sign plain cues.

What is the 7th cue?

It's a V-spliced Schuler SLC I got in '04. They make them now, but I don't know if it's in the website or the catalog. It's got a leather dye stain on it's forearm. I think it's the only cue on there that has any kind of stain.

You'll notice the wrap is farther back as well. This was from the observation that most of today's 9-ballers hold the cue farther back, and that half the players seem to be holding the cue in the butt plate area. So, they have been placing the wrap back there. I assume there was also a discussion on placing the A-joint farther back as well. In the end, it has the same Schuler joint construction, and feels as good as any of the other Schuler cues.

Wow... those are REALLY nice. I really dig your Schulers specially the spliced one. The Fanelli is some piece of work. And I'd like to take home all your cases... hehehe. These pictures woke me up this morning. Thanks.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but missing from my cues are inlays. I have never had inlays added on my own accord to any custom cue. I like looking at inlays, but I'm not a big fan of putting them on my cues. I really enjoy the wood doing all the talking.

Jim Buss felt that he needed to put inlays on the cue he made for me (this was from an RSB Cue Raffle that I lucked out in winning). Buss fans will recognize Jim's signature inlays. It's an absolutely stunning cue. I take it out once a month or so just to stare at the wood combo.

Nice collection Fred! Man it's good to finally see your arsenal because your one of the first folks to reply to my posts in CCB. Thanks so much for sharing your personal collection.

rate your fury j/b

Fred,

How do you like your Fury J/B? It's a nice looking cue (leather wrap even) and the price is right. It's also one of the fastest breakers according to Platinum Billiards.

https://www.platinumbilliards.com/rating_break.php

I'm strongly considering buying a Stinger SP but if this one jumps well and breaks nicely I may consider saving myself the cash.

Thanks,
Ethan
