Ok, I have been wanting to get into some form of cue building/repairing for awhile.

Looking at the costs of a actual cue lathe, i realize that is out of the picture for the time being.

So now I am thinking smaller, like shaft repair, tip replacement, wraps, etc. BUT before i spend the money on a lathe for that, I was wondering if it is possible to find one that I can also mount a Inlay cutter on as well? Doesnt have to be CNC.

I really love the look of most inlays out there, but was thinking to start learning to cut inlays and making only very unique one off designs.

Is there a lathe that can do both of these for a reasonable cost?

You may check if Chris Hightowers Inlay machine will fit a Midsize lathe but remember unless your good at making your own Templates your going to have to out source your templates to be made elsewhere then your looking at $100-$150 on average for a template to be made to your specs. If its a one off design this can get pricey. If your creative and have to buy templated you may can use a couple different templates in conjuction with each other to create different design but this would be teadious and could ne a difficult process...

i have been building cues since 1990 and to date i have spent appx 50000.00 on equipment with more to come. just go play pool and have fun

I saw that extra 0 in there and now I'm scared. Still it is a pretty cheap hobby when you consider, maybe, yachting or restoring antique autos.
