I don't know... I read through the whole website, and it really sounds like a spoof. I am sure it's just a Bud Light marketing scheme... The website is REALLY funny though, if any of you get the chance to read through it.

It's no spoof. While channel surfing last year, I happened to run into the championship on ESPN.

The money in professional pool is nothing short of embarrassing, the average pro tourney should pay 50k for first at every event, I can't believe that the money really hasn't improved much over the last 25 years, it makes me wonder what's wrong.

Bud sponsoring stupid crap like this gets them a lot of publicity I'm sure, hey were talking about it.

where as Budweiser will sponsor, a tournament like this for the same 50 Large

It's quite simple.....

Most sponsors do NOT want to be told how to spend their money.... so when it comes to the PRO tour the players want to try to control everything and these multi-million dollar companies don't want to hear it...

Case in point.... Camel back in the mid 90's they were that last real sponsor in the men's pro tour and the players screwed that up....

Instead of worrying about playing pool they wanted to get involved in the politics as well and lost the sponsors completely.... so this is now why we have tournaments like this one you are talking about where the money is equivelent but the caliber of players varies tremendously becasue the sponsors are calling the shots and do NOT have to deal with the red tape !!!

It wouldn't be hard to have NIKE sponsor the entire pro tour and have all players wearing their apparel but becasue of the noted experiences fellow sponsors have shared, most of these major corporations will NOT even entertain the idea of getting involved in pro pool becasue the players won't let them call the shots !
