Old Abe Rich?

I found this today. I automatically thought it was a rich by the burtvap, but the wooden pin in the buttsleeve to extend the cue, assumption, has me at a loss. 5/16/18 brass pin with brass joint and a nicely don't pilot. The joint collar reminds me of war time (WWII) era Willie Hope phenolic joints. The cue is beautiful Brazilian Rosewood.

Mali. 100% for sure.

EDIT: Late 1960's I believe. And it's missing weights. It had weights that fit onto that wood joint.

EDIT2: That buttcap has fooled more than one person, I have seen the old Mali cues confused with Rich cues fairly frequently. This is also possibly true of old Murray cues. The butt cap and the bumper are virtually identical.

Interestingly, Rich supplied other brands, so the old Murray cues might actually be Rich cues...or maybe Mali? LOL! And we are talking 60's and 50's...Maybe before 1965 when Florida cues was started by Abe.

I also think they may have made cues for Sears as I have seen some that looked spot on for a Rich cue...or maybe Mali? LOL!

This one posted is a Mali for sure. But if anybody has further info on what cues were sold by Rich and Mali and re-branded by I would love to hear it. I have seen Murray, Sears, and one or two others that are suspects.

Example of the original logo that was on this cue (linked to an old Ebay sale, not my pic)

Thanks for the eyes. I thought about having it turned into a Merry Widow as the wood is nice.

There are enough of them around so I wouldn't be worried about doing anything you like with it. And that wood is darn stable after all this time I would guess. I have seen a couple lately that were pristine with the original weights. One even sold a few months ago on the Goodwill auction site.

They made the same cue with a one piece butt. And they also made one with some dot inlays.

There was one recently, a one piece butt version, very nice condition, with three original shafts, that had provenance associated with a known player. It had some documentation of tournament wins etc with it as well as I think a trophy. Even with all that it didn't sell for a heck of a lot. Maybe 150 or 175. Honestly, the shafts were probably worth that. LOL!

It is nice wood and since it already has that back part separate you could have something interesting done with it.

Could be nice for some kind of a conversion. I am guessing that old shaft wood is pretty nice too.

If you do something with it please post the results, it would be interesting to see the old girl revived to a new life.

Just a thought, but that wood screw is so long if you wanted to put a section in there and get a longer butt out of it I would think it would be pretty simple and could retain the original wood screw. Could do something interesting with looks there too.
