Old Brunswick rail questions

I have a 1931 Brunswick Harrison leather pocket 9 ft. table and I'm noticing the rail rubber is loose on a few areas.
My questions are:
Can this be tightened or is it just worn out?

If worn out, about how much is new rubber? I have a guy that can recover them.

I have been thinking about selling it to get a 9 ft Diamond since the tournaments are on Diamonds and the pockets are definitely cut different (harder). Any chance rail rubber for for Brunswick is available in a Diamond pocket profile??

Thanks

The cut of the pockets has everything to do with the mechanic performing the work assuming you get the correct profile rubber for your table, most likely K66 though it could be K55.

Yes, it can be fixed. How it is fixed is dependent on who does the work and how they do it. If you want new Artemis rubber installed plus the pocket angles recut you are looking at 700$-1000 my guess. If you can get a good price for your table, then I would get the Diamond.

There are no straight across cushions made today that would fit your rails correctly, the sub-rails would have to be modified to fit any new cushions made today in order to play correctly.

Thanks Glen. Maybe I'll talk to Greg @ Diamond when I'm in Vegas for the next week

If your happy with the Brunswick....I can redo the rail work and put Brunswick super-speed cushions on the rails.
Tighten up the pockets....but the table will not play like a new commercial table.

Mostly...those old Brunswick tables are more for looks and the design.

Mark is 100% right about what he said, which is not the answer you'd get from anyone that you'd hire to do the work on your rails. Most wouldn't know the difference in the first place, only how much they'd charge you do to the work....even if it did't do a thing for the table overall.
