My buddy has an old cue. He would like to get a new shaft for it but would like it to match the patina on the butt section. Any recs on who to have do the job on this old cue?

Hey old buddy:thumbup: Looks like you are still alive and kicken!

That looks like a old Brunswick....maybe a Masterstroke that someone has re-wrapped. I had the same problem with a Titlist cue not long ago. I wanted to play with the cue but the original shaft was old and frail much like myself. I decided to fit a shaft to it from a old house cue and it worked great. I cut the house cue in half and then drilled and threaded a female insert that matched the pin. Then used a piece of black nylon for the joint collar and bingo I had a playable shaft that matched the patina of the original cue.

I am sure most cue makers out there have many old house cues gathering dust and could do the same thing. I would not think it would cost an arm and a leg to get er done. Some of the old cues had great Maple shafts that hit amazing.

Lets plan a day that we can get together and shoot balls into rails;).

Ernie Martinez is the guy you want to do this kind of work. Super cue builder and repair guy. He lives in Denver area and is very reasonable in terms of price.

I don't know if OB would match the wood coloring, but it does remind me of something they offered when I bought a shaft. They will take the ring off your old shaft and put it on the new shaft. I'm talking about the centimeter long ring near the base of the shaft that decorates the shaft. This would have destroyed my old shaft so I decided not to do it. I carry my old shaft in my case as a backup.
