I just bought this 2x2 instroke vinyl case on impulse when it came in I discovered it seems better built than my new buffalo instroke and my vinyl 2x4 premier instroke just sturdier and the vinyl is thicker. Maybe its just me but are the older instrokes better quality than the new ones. Here is a picture of the older case , has instroke label on the side and a different type side strap.

Some of the old european made Instrokes seem a little more elegant for sure, with richer feeling leather.
Also the strap on your case looks more robust than the new Instrokes.
JB knows everything there is to know about Instroke cases, and this one is probably from his era.

Where is John Barton?

he is still on a ban.

Mostly a matter of personal taste - but - in general the vinyl was better because it is Skai™ from Hornshuch in Germany. On these I did the double d-ring buckle style which is a very old way of making an adjustable strap that doesn't require a cast buckle. This is a bit more cumbersome but it holds very well when set.

I also like the dekostoffe (fabric) that is used in the older Instroke cases better than the stuff I can get in Taiwan and China. It simply feels better and nicer. So in that sense, yes the older Instrokes have a nicer "feel" to them.

But structurally the ones from Taiwan are better. Both are great. Like two eras of Corvettes. New Vettes are better built but older ones are more sexy.

Well to be honest I like the old ones better, Vinyl looks more like leather and is much heaver and interior padding seems thicker. I have 2 other new instrokes, nice cases but I just cannot warm up to them like the old one. but all are nice.

I have a old Instroke that was made in Germany and one of the newer models that is similar. The older is more elegant and uses natural leather, the leather on the new one looks like it is processed or manufactured leather that is made from grinding up leather scraps and then adhering them together.

The hardware is much better on the old one and so it the tooling. The tooling on the new one looks like a cheap stamp job that could be due to the leather.
