? Old Joss cue value question.

Why yes I would......

I have an old "supposed" 1980's Joss Gambler cue being offered to me on Monday if the guy doesn't get the money he is owed as the cue was left for collateral.

It's a veneered 4 point in excellent condition with the exception of the butt cap which has a few nicks in it and a small nick in the butt itself on the edge of one of the cards.

Comes with the thought to be original shaft which rolls perfectly straight like the butt.

Any idea of current value of the cue?

I know I can get the butt cap replaced and possibly repaired for not too much money.

Thanks in advance..

Old Joss's have really gone up in value. Collectors like them and they still play great........ $500 minimum

** Good comment on the Cognescenti's:)

Thanks Sir Banks.;)

You and I share the same philosophy on most things. You Sir, are a player....

I can get this Old Joss for much less than the $500.00.

Might just send it out to Jackson and have it refinished and wraped.

Maybe a keeper.

These were nice old cues...if you are going to have it restored, send it back to Joss and let them put it back like a Joss. Tony does a nice job with Jackson, however. So does Scott Sherbine at Proficient, and he usually has it done in a week.

It is indeed a nice old Joss. Obviously - keep an eye on EBay to get a real value. I've watched a couple very similar and they have gone higher than I would have guessed. Proficient will do a great job or......perhaps you could send it Cognescenti to refinish :D

Tony @ Jackson has done a "Lot" of cues for me, including my Runde Schon I had. In fact he is making me a Custom shaft for my Pechauer Pro-H as I type this. Probably because my buddy and I are their sole distributers in Michigan:)

I haven't had Proficient do anything for me yet but have been wanting to give them a try. I really wanna try a Stack Leather Wrap on a cue sometime too.

Thanks for the input fella's....

It's a done deal.

I will have pics of the cue on here tomorrow for all to see.

I will offer it here first and then it is off to E-bay if no one is interested in it.

Hearts and Dimonds are Earl The Pearls (MOP)? Hearts and club I have also seen but no spades of yet. So what did you get? 2 shafts, I hope.

I have seen the Earl go to $800+. If it is the same one, it has been on ebay serveral times in the last 5 years.

I am always wanting to looooook.

It is the hearts and diamonds cue. The Diamonds are mother of pearl. It has a yellow micarta butt and stainless steel joint. On the joint in gold is says "Biagio by JOSS" and also has the gold JOSS logo on the shaft.

Cue is in Excellent condition with the exception of LARGE chunks missing out of the butt and a large nick in the finish in the butt that was not deep enough to damage the wood. Wrap is original and faded but not frayed at all. Has 1 shaft that is straight as an arrow and still about 12.75MM, although someone has changed the ferrule as it is a "hair" larger in diameter than the shaft.

I will post pics tonight.

I would prefer to sell this as is and be done with it. However, if no one is interested it will go to Proficient billiards to be refinished and then to E-bay or Cue auction.

This is really a mystery? I think all of the Joss gambler cues I have seen in the past were pre-Biagio days? I think, I have pictures at work of the Earl the Pearl Joss; that has been on ebay in the past.

I will post tomorrow.

I like to see how yours differs. Bugs.

I will have the pictures tonight.

Just spoke with Sherry at Joss Cues.

It is a 1980 model 94-2.

It was only manufactured as a 4 point with no veneers. Being this has 4 veneers this was a custom cue and is VERY rare, rare as the the extent she has never even seen one personally.

She will be doing the refinish on this one. I won't let anyone but Joss touch this cue knowing this information. I will also have them make another shaft with matching Joss markings on the shaft to match the original shaft 100%....

:) :)

IMHO, that is a very smart move. Then put it away for a couple of years. Looks like you stepped into something pretty good. Congrats...

Still looking for the Earl the Pearl joss pictures. Here are pictures of the Ace's cue that was listed on ebay about a year ago.

I may not have the Earl the Pearl cue pictures in color anymore? I do have the old ebay add and could scan it? They would be in B/W images.

Enjoy the pictures. :D

Bugs.
