Old Joss Logo?

Someone out there may be familiar with this logo on the collar of an older Joss. Was told cue is nearly 30 years old if that helps. Can't make out the lettering after the JOSS inscription. Hoping someone will know. Joss sight doesn't offer info. anymore apparently.

Its the year the cue was made.

It says....

JOSS ~ 1983

I had a Joss cue with the same marking.

They only used the white letters in the very early eighties.

Sometimes they will just say JOSS or JOSS CUSTOM

that is correct i had a 1984 same markings and the shaft has white joss on it.

The cue is very well built, that solves the mystery. It will be for sale as soon as I get some pic's taken. Butt is bowed some, has delrin butt cap and shaft is straight and nice with ivory ferrule. contact me if interested by PM.

Cue made in early 80's by Joss East, Danny Janes, a quality production cue, not to be confused with Joss West by Bill Stroud a High quality custom cue.

Early 80's is correct. I have one with the exact lettering but has the date on it (83) which I bought in 83. Nice stick, but I also have JW from the late 70's. just better sticks. rw

Selling

Cue is very solid player, played a few games with it last night. Assembled cue rolls good on table, tip does not leave the table when rolled, butt has some roll. There is considerable interest in this cue and I have no idea of the value. Will post pic's today and send them to all that PM'd me. Will start the price at $600, shipped and insured. Maybe to high, maybe to low. If cue doesn't sell right away will lower price till it does sell or a trade offer is accepted. Pic's coming soon.

I just bought a Joss cue with white letters on the joint. According to the previous replies I understand this logo was used in the early 80's. The seller tells me that he has one from1990 with the same logo. Is it true Joss used it both in the early 80's and 90's. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The white logos were used in the early to mid 80's. I have seen them with the dates ranging from 1982-1986. I have also seen them without dates. Late 80's they went to gold lettering on the joint collars.
