Old micarta Scruggs

Varney Cues

Handcrafted quality!

Here is a little eye candy for all you TS fans. I've never seen one of Timmy's cues with a Micarta joint, but here is one for sure. Complete with 2 original shafts, one has a Micarta ferrule. I have no idea (well a good guess ;) ) what its worth...maybe some of you Scruggs experts can put a number on it for me. I believe this is a keeper.:) Thank you for looking.

Timi probably had a afro when he built that thing! Old Joss rings too!

I believe you missed a zero there Dave.:D
Not my cue though...belongs to a friend. I was just showing it off for him after I installed a couple of fresh Everest tips.

Tell your good buddy

I might give him a TS Titilst cue and a Frey 6 pont cue for that thing!

This cue brings back memories, I had Tim make it for me back in 1989. It was a different design for him and he did a great job. I sold it to the current owner back in 1995. Since he is my best friend, he got an incredible deal. I am glad he is using it again after sitting in his closet for the past few years. I purchased a new Lambros after I sold him this Scruggs.

LOL...I tried to get John to play me some...I figured after a few sets it'd be my Scruggs. He passed.:D

I am glad John is playing again. He was pretty good back in the day, but with kids and a job that has him traveling, you may be right;) . It was always the one sport I could never beat him. Everything else we did I would win, but not pool. And pool was the one sport I wished I played better, but just never got over the hump. So I fogure if I couldn't play, I might as well look good.

I have a Lambros, a couple of Sigels, a Josey, and a Blue Grass cue as well as a Lambros sneaky Pete and a break cue.

Thanks for fixing up those shafts for John, they needed help. That cue still holds fond memories for me. Maybe John will fill you in on the story.

I love the boxed veneers on that thing. I have one with boxed veneers as well and I have the same joint rings too! Check out my pics in my signature below. I'd say the cue is worth at least $3000 but I'm no expert, I'm actually curious what mine might be worth too, but I'll save that for my own thread.

Cheers,
Jim

I finally got approval from AZbilliards to join!

Thanks for the work on the cue Kevin, it plays great. And yes, you are correct, I passed on wagering the cue. Even if I was good enough, it means too much to me.

Slim, Thanks for the credit, but you always kicked my ass in every other sport. Now that I have this cue, I think I will always prevail. Look forward to getting together soon.

Welcome to AZB John. Have a look around & enjoy yourself. Let me know when you're ready for a j/b...a few people on here are kinda partial to them.;)

Z (fat) Man -

You are ready for the j/b cue so give Mr Varney a buzz. I was playing yesterday and hit the ball well so we need to get together again soon. We need another marathon match like we did in Jersey back in the day.
