Old Pictures

nice little collection they have there...

but it kinda bugs me when people do that.
those images are all in the public domain, the seller does not own them.
he/she is simply selling expensive reprints.
some of the photos have been cropped quite severely...
tacky operation in my opinion.

I love old black and whites! You can see how dignified the sport was waaaaaay back in the day...I love this!

Cypriot pounds haven't been used for a few years now...must be sold in Euros now, wonder if the site is even still active...?

Every time I see a link for vintage black and white billiard photos, I can never find any showing an Anniversary in use. When I bought my table, it came with a nice print from back in the day. I have yet to frame it, but it's on my list of accessory projects for after the table is finally restored... which is nearing completion (walnut cue rack, walnut triangle holder, walnut picture frames for various art projects already TIFF'ed, etc.)

Old Pool Room from the 1920's

This was my great grandfather's pool room in a little town called Lumpkin, Georgia, in the southwest part of the state.
I am guessing this was in the 1920's..no way of knowing exactly, all relatives are dead and gone.

Thanks for posting those old photos. My earliest memory of playing pool was when I was around 7. There was an old dusty table set up in an unused chicken coop on a neighboring farm, Chilton, WI countrysde. My older brother and his friend were ganging up on me and though they probably let me win (Cutthroat I believe was the game), for years I bragged how I "beat both of 'em!".

Great Collection for Browsing

Just a sample of the great collection of old time photos from Shorpy.
There is a reference to "pool" or "billiards" in each one.

Lots of awnings and overhead wires.
Everyone wore a hat.
