Old School 2 Pushout 9 Ball

Today the only time I watch a 9ball match is when it comes up in my YouTube feed and I want to see a players fundamentals.

I used to have trouble watching 1pkt. but the better I got at it the more interesting it became. Now I can't watch 9-ball and everyone I introduce
to 1 pkt tells they no longer find 9 b or 8b interesting even people who are just now learning to play. I start them on 1pkt right off. Everything a player needs to learn to do is right there. What a great way to learn to play pool.
My interest is in playing 1p and 8 ball. Not a lot of people are interested in 1p around here. If you play 1p you will find that your defensive skills in 8 ball improve dramatically. I've found it much easier to beat 8 ball players who are actually much better shooters than me.

The problem is though the guy who just nick the ball and put you behind another ball playing safe when he has actually has a shot that could be made.

I've been watching some of the current matches and these guys are unwilling to shoot at anything. All they do is play safe trying to get ball in hand. I guess that's smart but it's not very pleasant to watch.
Too many tournaments now come down to who has the best string of luck.

Exactly. I'm a certified Instructor and honestly if everyone learned to play one pocket,
it teaches you everything you need to learn to do beyond the fundamentals. I start
people playing one pocket early on and it keeps them interested until they've learned
enough to handle 8 and then 9 ball.
