Older Brunswick Cue

So I happened upon this cue recently and was wondering what history it may have and if it's of any real value. This cue has the eagle on the white lifesaver but has 2 different splices. I've never actually seen anything like this. Hopefully one of you or many of you could give me some insight. Thanks AZers.

I double checked and yeah its a butterfly up about 2/3 from bottom and the regular splice is in its normal spot.

That's not a butterfly splice.

This was a house cue from Brunswick Canada, probably 1920's. Is there a weight stamp on the butt (look closely for the indentation)?
 
I'm not near it now but I'm fairly sure that there is. If it isn't a butterfly splice what is it? Plus is it actually worth much?

This was a standard service Brunswick offered years ago....
...if the house cue warped, you could get a new shaft spliced on...
....for about half the cost of a new cue.

Even in the 60s, a lot of the old rooms had them.
 
I buy these old cues when I find them for cheap. $25 or less in normal condition.
If the labels are perfect and the cues are original and straight I will pay more.

Pretty sure it's a cracked cue repair - notice all the grain is consistent through the repair.
 
It goes around to the other side. I'll add more pics of it later if needs be. It's a splice of some sort.

The service I mentioned was pretty standard...I knew one of the men at
Brunswick that used to do it.
I played in a room where probably half the cues were like this....
...I still got a few.

Although you could be right in this case, Chris.
 
They took the time to re-cut a new top and installed it on sounds more likely. It comes down towards the bottom of the cue in 2 opposite spots and reverse to that it has 2 that go towards the tip as well. Again, not cracked or broken. Hehehe. I'm out of work in 15 mins. I'll post more better pictures. Sorry for all the confusion.

You're right - the new picture shows they butterflied on a new shaft, they just did a good job matching the grain.

They used to do that all the way back in the early 1900's.
