Older cases - maybe French made?

I am trying to find the name of a case maker that made cases at least 30 yrs ago. Not sure if they are still in business.
I think the name started with an L
I was sure they were made in Europe and maybe had a French sounding name.
They also made hollow round cases that had a cloth with pockets that you would put the butts/shafts in and just roll up. A lot of 3-cushion players seemed to prefer them.
Probably made from leather.
They may have had a separate compartment on top of lid to store chalk, etc.

Hi r9ball,

I have a Laperti case and use it as my primary case. I also sell them but I do not have them on my website ( which is a mistake on my part). Great cases and built well. Let me know if you are interested by giving me a PM. It is one of the best cases in my opinion

r9ball; I think George Ashby has used a case like what you described for MANY years.

He may even have an extra one, I'm SURE you can get a BETTER deal from him, than ANY where else!

Had one of those for a decade. Black leather, cylinder shape, little compartment on top, maybe a 3 inch diameter, at most. Keep that size in mind. I bought the case at Wilhelmina billiards in Amsterdam in the days when all I practiced was 47/2. I decide to also buy my own white pencil, to draw balklines. Walked into the first bookstore I saw (they usually also have office supplies), turned out it was an especially posh one. Chique blue-grey haired lady with pearl necklace looked almost insulted when I asked for a white pencil, yes, just one. She sent a boy to get one from the warehouse anyway. To this day, I remember the look on her face when I gave her 35 cents and broke it in two.

Yes I have the great opportunity to play with George about every Saturday. He still uses that case. He told me the name once and I forgot to ask again this weekend.

VERY GOOD, r9ball. :rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:

All kidding aside, Like I said before, I think George A might be able to locate one.

Tell George, I said Hello, please!

Bill Smith "Mr3Cushion"

Mr 3 Cushion, I won't see George for a couple weeks but I will tell him you said hello.

Zensteve - just messing with you, I'm sure those books/dvds would be interesting.
I have played snooker/pool for most my 50yrs and occasional 3 cushion. I have always taken time to watch the pros (pool + 3C) when I can. Some was for entertainment but I really paid attention to position, pattern, spin, etc. I would say that I am advanced pocket player and understand the ball physics, english. With so many years of playing and paying attention to what goes on with the angles, balls, speed, I am adapting very quickly to 3C. I know only the basic diamond system but I can easily see that learning more of it will definitely increase accuracy and it helps in my pocket games too.
I started playing 3C every week in the last year.
George usually plays me 30-15 and I generally get 12 and have won a couple times and gotten to 21 on a great day. Don't always keep track but my high has been around .625
I am not going to debate who knows more about the game because I have never heard of the player you mentioned and I don't know how much time you have spent around or played George.
Not many people are fortunate enough to have the chance to play every week on great equipment with an 8 time national champion that is always eager to help your game and explain any shot you ask, not to mention he still plays great even though not at top pro level anymore. It's nothing for him to play with us guys for over 8 hrs. I have seen different books, but this type of hands on experience is a better method for me.
And when Tom Rossman stopped in one day,, well that just added to an already fun day.
Anyway,,, got a little off topic and don't take my earlier sarcastic post too serious.
Hopefully, we'll all have the occasion to meet sometime a a tourney and tell lies.
And if anyone is ever in Rushville (west central IL,), stop in Rushville Billiards on a Saturday and you will have a fun day.
Rick

Much better than that! Kozoom's CEO has agreed to live-stream the Verhoeven Open!
Make sure you dress in your Sunday best for all the world to see
