Any ideas on how odd this cue might have been for it's day?
I had a cue in for a retip. It was about 11.8 mm ferrule that was parrallel and 19 mm long,then the shaft tapered to 10.8 mm over about 140 mm, stayed straight for another 40 mm, then slowly gets bigger for another 200mm, then looks to continue like a normal shaft.
The owner claims it was an old cue in 1980 when he was given it.
No picture sorry, but the pin was 5/16-18 tpi brass , with a brass joint and a plastic looking black joint rings on each side of the handle.
The ferrule was uncapped, and looks to be a 6mm or so tennon.
The handle was plain, no wrap, and has a 40 mm long ivory ring at the base of the handle, which has split open or cracked.There is a rubber bumper that is hard as anything,not yet cracked.
The only id on the cue is a number stamped into the top of the forarm 2074 and the same on the shaft close to the joint. It looks like 3/16 number punch was used to stamp it.
It plays well despite being a bent shaft, handle is still straight, and the hit is still solid , even though the botton ivory is cracked.
It is possible it was a screw up and he has just ended up with it.

Cue number is 876 not 2074, He was given the cue in 1974, not 1980 as I thought, it was retipped in 1980.
