Older Table- Need Help

Hi everyone. This is my first time to post here. I just recently bought an 8ft slate table through craigslist for $100 that is in need of repair.Aside from replacing the bed cloth, sight pins, and Pockets, One of my biggest concerns is the rails.
I am having trouble identifying what type of rubber I need to purchase for starters, and my other issue that I am looking into is exactly how I will have to go about recovering the rails once they are replaced?
I'm not very knowledgeable about this subject, but I have recovered a few that use feather strips to hold the felt on the top of the rails. This table , from what I have seen, does not have the feather strips to hold the felt in place.
I have looked and looked and am racking my brain on how I am going to get this thing recovered once I get the rubber replaced.
There is an emblem on one end that says "FW" , from what I have found on the internet the table is an old Frederick-Willys Table. ( I Think)

If anyone can tell me how to tackle this issue,I would greatly appreciate it.
The picture is from the add where I found it. As soon as I get the chance, I will post another picture of the rails.

looks like a nice table for 100 dollars. The mechanics here will give you all the help you need.

You are correct,it is a Frederick Willys pool table. It is a one piece slate table which does not have featherstrips. If you look at the side of the table you will notice a piece of metal trim. In that trim is a rubber piece.
take a small awl or screwdriver and lift it out . Once you get it started it will just pull out. Now you will see the screws which hold the rails on. Start there!

Hi Thank you for the info.

I went and looked at the metal trim and did not see the rubber piece that you are talking about.
I do have the table broken down and being stored at the moment,so I was able to look underneath one of the rails after removing some of the old cloth, and there are 3 woodscrews holding it on from underneath.

Could that be something that someone else had done wrong?
It just doesn't seem right because right now in the condition that it is in, all of the rails have alot of play in them.

As soon as I can get my hands on a camera , I will take pics of the rails, so that it will help to see what I am looking at.

Thanks again.

there should be some screws or something holding that metal trim on.

Do you already have the rail assmbly off?

Been a while since i have worked on one. If you have rail assy off then yes those three screws will detach cushion.

here's my $100 craigslist Brunswick Ventura II Pro, pool table. :)

the main difficulty i had with it was shimming it in the center to get it level. i worked out a system and it plays really well. i can slow roll the cue on long shots!

good luck getting this thing up and running.

I think I have figured out how to remove the rails. I believe the metal trim slides off, from what I can see, there are no screws holding it on.
I have another question though, How do I tell what type of rail rubber I need to get to replace the old ones?

Cushion rubber? I think K-55 is 1 5/16" where it glues and 1 1/4" along the top surface. K-66 is 1 3/16" on glued side and 1 1/8" on top surface. I think but google image "billiard cushion profiles" to be sure.

If you're set on replacing the cushion rubber -
pull one of the cushions off the subrail and take a vertical measurement the backside where it was glued.
The most common cushion profiles are:
1 1/4" - K55
1 1/8" - K66
1" - U23

I am selling this exact table. I did not advertise slate but i had two people look at it and tell me it is not slate. It is exact to your picture. do you know if this model was made with slate and/or non slate. thanks

A table that like this one? I have worked on one awhaile back' new cloth, replaced the U23 rubber cushions, leveled the pined 3 pc slate and a few frame mods...well it was sandstone..but a guy who never knew any better would think its slate.. The metal trim attaches to the bottom side of the rail..well it did on the one I worked on..
