I am just trying to figure out what the oldest continuous operating pool room is. Where i play, the Golden Cue in Albany NY has been open a little over 40 years. The people that run it now have owned it for a little over 30 years making them only the 2nd owner. It has 23 gold crown original tables. GC2 i believe. the skirting on these came in different colors. Plus they have 2 gold crown 5x10 billiard tables and i heated soren sogaard 3 cushion table. I guess what i am trying to figure out is what is the oldest continious pool/billiard room that is original with the original equipment that you know of. i have no idea if this subject has been asked so i just said, what the hell. just ask................................................mike

My home room has been dated back to somewhere around 1920. I'm not sure of the exact year, but according to legend, Greenleaf and Hoppe both done exhibitions there. The room is located in Danville, Ky. I haven't met anyone that ever remembers the room not being there..

I visited a room in Elizabeth City, NC about 15 years ago. I don't know exactly how old it was, but I am guessing it was circa 1543- judging by the floors and furnishings. IIRC, there is a poster here that displays this town as his location- hope he chimes in- I bet Lassiter spent many an hour there...

oldest room

some would say it was smith billiards in springfield ma.
celebrated their 100 th birthday 3 years ago.
If you are in town for texas hold em $100,000. winner take all billiard championship this Saturday you should check it out.
Only 5 minuted the Basketball Hall of Fame where the tournament is taking place.

I called the poolroom this afternoon. They have traced the business back to 1907. They're still not sure when it was established...I think that it would make for a neat story if one of the magazines were to do a story on these old rooms.

I know

That Club Billiards here dates back to the 1920's as far as
I know, don't know the exact date. It is where all the hot
'Golf' games on a Snooker table go on. Real good cheeseburgers.
Cards, dominoes going on all the time. All the oldtimers hang there.
