Hopefully there will be more info following very soon here; perhaps as early as this week. I don't want to get ahead of myself until things are actually established.
My sources tell me that some of these changes include not only mandatory rack your own..Also, a 30 second shot clock in reverse!! If you shoot before the shot clock expires it's a foul ball in hand..Could this be true Jimmy ?? I also heard that the only exception to this rule would be Pancough..Jimmy M. said:There is talk about a new tour that will be popping up here very soon. not 5000 but i have 20. hows that for a start?bfdlad said:All you guys who are interested in the All round tour. Here is all we need, I have spoken to Mike and he is willing to help out a bit with certain things but not taking the whole load himself. We need $5,000.00 total in sponsorship, a tournament Director who we can trust to be good, honest and stick through the whole thing. I know the rooms are there and willing to put their end of the $$ in. Thats all we need guys and we can make this work. I would like to see it happen. I am working on a couple of things right now but in about a week I can get on it in a much bigger way. Do we have that kind of time though? NO we have to begin to make the ground work happen. So anyone got $5,000 to put in the pot? Thats the first thing. We may not need it all as I think we can get sponsors along the way that will add$$$ Let me know your thoughts.

Jimmy M. said:Okay, in all seriousness, it is already taking place. Here is a link with some information. I hope Mike doesn't mind me posting this link, but here it is:

We have tentative dates/venues for our events, and that information will be made public as soon as it becomes available. We are in the process of creating the schedule with the room owners. This all came about so quickly, and being that we're already almost into February, we felt it was important to get the first event posted as soon as possible, rather than wait until we had every event scheduled. Most of the room owners who were involved last year are still interested in a tour this year, so getting these commitments is turning out to be more of a matter of scheduling rather than trying to generate interest.
I suspect the player meeting will be a doozy..Can i just pay my entry and membership fees and come back after the dinner break to play my 1st match??BigCat said:This is fantastic news for the players here in Arizona. I, for one, will be at the first event and will do everything I can to support this tour. Best of luck to both you and Dennis in making this successfull.
As far as suggestions and options, here are a few to pontificate:
- Open to any player (not just Arizona residents)
- Open to pros and amateurs
- Bonus for top finishing woman in an event (I was there last year when Susan Williams beat Pete Lhotka to get in the money, and I must say we were all very happy for her as she was the first Arizona female to place in an AZ All Around event. Promoting this may help bring out more women.)
- Bonus for top finishing woman in the points list
- Rack your own (I like this idea - as long as the rules for racking the balls in a certain order are set ahead of time)
- If it's "rack your own", then it may be a good idea to put a rule in effect that says the 9 or 10 ball may not be made in the lower 2 corner pockets closest to the rack. If it does go, then it spots. Their may be some rack artists our there that will purposely leave a gap between the 9 ball and the two balls behind it as that creates a much better chance for the 9 ball to make a straight bee line to one of those pockets. Or, sometimes a rack does not rack perfectly tight and there is no way to get the 9 ball frozen solid to the two balls behind it. This rule would eliminate this issue ALTOGETHER. I believe the Florida Pro Tour has a similar rule (maybe even making the 10 ball at all doesn't count on the break, not sure though).
- 14.1 and 1 hole events at locations with enough tables to support the time and amount of people to get the tournaments done in a timely manner (of course I'm thinking of the events help at On The Snap that went way too late on Saturday - brutal)
- No 3 foul rule
- Different start times - 12 PM??? (But I'm just lazy- I wouldn't mind an extra hour of sleep)
That's all I can think of for now, if I think of anymore, I'll bring them up later.
