Ther is not to much to find on omen cues on the webb.
Is omen cues a good playre cue, and if so feel free to compare it to some thing that is more common.

I have heard a lot of great things about Omen cues. I have never actually hit with one, but I have considered buying one just based on reputation. His website has some good info: Omen Cues
Hope this helps.

his cues play very well and his work is top notch. I know where there are a couple for sale and if I could get away with buying anohter one I would pick it up in a heartbeat. If you PM Barryc he can tell you a lot more about them.

I have owned a few of his cues and he has done repair work for me in the past. Get a hold of VOODOO DADDY, he is his buddy.

Pete Ohman (Omen Custom Cues) makes cues out of Florida and his cues play incredibly well. I have owned several and have yet to be disappinted with any of them. In fact, I regret selling one or two of them! They are great players.

Pete definitely knows how to make a cue play well as he is one helluva player himself. I only fault Pete for abandoning efforts to create his own unique style and basically adopting that of South West right down to the ringwork. Aside from that, great cues at a great price.

I have played with several of Pete cue. I must say they are surprisingly good playing cue as i never heard of him before.

What is even more surprising is the quality of his workmanship. It is really outstanding. He makes excellent excellent 6pt 4 veneer cues and his ring work is marvelous.

Unfortunately he does not do titlist conversion or so i understood from his dealer here. Else i would have been really really interested in making one.

Then again, I have only seen and played with 4 of his cues and they seems to be very consistent.

Larry Nevel used to play with Omen cues until he got his sponsorship from Tiger. He let me try out one of the cues and I thought it played great. Just based off the small time I spent hitting with an Omen I would recommend one.

Pete Omen is a master cue maker out of floridia. His cues start out around $450 to around $2200. His design are pretty much all southwest looking. Pete omen cues have a nice firm hit. Kinda like a cheaper southwest. I have played with 4 of them the point work and the wood's look of high quality. His cues have a 3/8 11 brass pin with the threads flat on on sided that say omen.Kinda weird but his joint is very solid.:) :)

everyone i have ever played with played exception... especially the ivory jointed cues... and his break cues are awesome..

Well for omen cues, it takes a few test hits to convince me to order one through his dealers. If you are looking for a stiff hitting cue, then omen cues are not to be miss. However there is a term associated with omen cues and that is "The Cheaper Alternative to a SouthWest Cue".

personally.. i like the way the Omen phenolic joint plays over the south west..

i shot some balls with a franklin south west and it seemed like the cue was dead to me.. i dunno.. i really didnt like it.. but the omen played really nice..

everybody is going to have a different opinion on this one.. best thing to do is if you like the look of an omen, just try it.. who knows maybe you will like it..

unfortunatly i dont believe pete will be at valley forge this year... :(

omen cues

Omen opinion...

I have owned and played with two Omen cues, they play very well and he,(Pete) stands behind his product... so if there is ever an issue with workmanship, (which is highly unlikely) he will take care of it... the most remarkable thing regarding playability of the Omen's that I owned, in my opinion, is the balance of the cue... they felt great in your hand and a nice solid hit... I personally like the ivory jointed cues, very elegant...

hope this helps you in your search...

Omen cues are excellent and the workmanship and finish is as good as any you will see. Pete is a good guy to deal with as well. The hit is less "hard" than the hit of a Schon, for example, but still not mushy. Wether or not it's a good "player cue" sort of depends what you like to play with and that is pretty subjective. For instance, some players like a very hard stiff hit and others do not. However, the workmanship and quality are worth the price.

I recently bought a break cue without the jump joint that belonged to Larry Nevel and have to say it plays jam up. I actually sold my Gibert jump/break to replace it and dont regret it a bit. Very nice firm hit and good long taper. Overall very nice cue.

Egon - If your looking for a great hitting well balenced cue, regardless of price, I full heartedly recommend Omen cues. I had played a number of times with a friends Omen and liked it very much. Since then I have purchased one of my own and love it. It plays so well, after hitting mine a few times, my son purchased one also. He couldn't be happier. I have been playing for 48 years and played for a living for many years, using many cues during that time. I have owned and played Josh West, Southwest, AE, Coker, Bludworth(older originals) and a number of other fine cues. In my opinion Pete Ohman's - Omen Cues play as well as any I have ever hit, bar none. My son has played for over 20 years and has owned a number of high quality cues also, and he feels the same as I do, great hitting well built cue. Plus they are great looking too! Based on our experience you can't go wrong. Pete is a very nice man to deal with, which is another plus.

I too have an omen cue. It was one of Pete's first 6 point cues from around 1979. At that time I was offered $1000 several times and would not take it and I still wont!
Now that it is almost 30 years down the road you can believe Pete is a master craftsman. 30 years is a long time to hone one's skill.
Presently, Pete is building me another cue. Since I am a jewelry collector I asked him to put my birthstone in a cuestick. So we sat down and designed this beautiful cue on a piece of paper. It is 90% finished. The last time I saw it I jumped up and down it was so pretty. It has rectangular windows of white holly set in burl below the wrap and burl with white holly points in the forarm. In the windows and points are my birthstones (peridot) and it does not resemble a southwest by any means. I really enjoyed being part of the design process and hand picking the burl and white holly from blocks of wood that Pete has turned into a beautiful piece of art. I already know his cues hit well since I have had one for so many years. I will be using my new cue shortly in my regional tournaments.
Last weekend while playing in one of the tournaments across the state, I saw 3 other ladies using an Omen custom cue. Out of 39 players that says alot!
Pete also makes great jump/break cues with phenolic tips...
Get yourself an Omen Cue you'll be glad you did.

I like Pete's veneer/ point work and quality of build. His pricing seems to be very generous for the quality of cue he produces.

You may want to pm this member here cyrustong for more information of Omen cues, caused based on his website, there is a detailed writeup of omen cues. Not forgetting the tonnes of omen cue pictures in the site.

I, too, own two Omens-- one a flat faced phenolic 3/8-10, the other a 5/16-14 piloted stainless steel. Both are six pointers and they both play beautifully.

Pete makes very handsome sticks that play great, and he stands behind his work 100%. He is a pleasure to do business with.

I recommend him highly.
