OK first off no disrespect to either builder, from what I have gleaned from this site both men make an excellent cue. This is geared towards those that have either owned and played with both. As a rule do they play similar any real difference between them. I realize that play is a personal matter, shaft taper, tip etc all factor in heavily. My guess is the workmanship on both is top notch. I do know that Onleys have a very tight threaded joint butt to shaft. Any insights would be appricated. I am also talking a fairly simple unadorned cue.

I'll approach it this way. I prefer the shape and shaft taper of the Omen cue. Both makers were excellent shortstop level players and have more than a good idea of how a cue should perform. My 2 cents. Martin

I have only owned an Omen. I can tell you that I had one that the last 1/4' was a bear when screwing the shaft on. Super tight and a great feeling cue. I would not hesitate owning one again at some point in time. Very nice cues and a very nice guy in Pete.

I haven't owned an Olney or shot with one for that matter, so I don't have anything to compare it to...However, the Omen 8-pter and break cue that I have now have been with me for almost 10 years now and I have another new one on the way hopefully within a month...

In my humble opinion, Olney is a sure win . Jeff's waiting list is at least 7 years and Pete is no more than 7 months but both are reknowned cue makers so good luck w ur choice :)

Love the hit of my Olney cue, has a special something that I can't put my finger on, just the combination of grea feel and balance. Mine is a very simple and inexpensive cue but the quality level is as high as I've ever seen.

Never tried an Omen, thy look nice though. Guessing you can't go wrong either way.

Please do a search for both cuemakers, there is enough posts about one of them to last you a while. That 7 year waiting list might not be true.
Good luck in your search.
