Why's one of the brass inserts bigger than the other? does that effect how the cue plays with each shaft?

One shaft insert is longer because Pete made one shaft to fit my B/J he made for me. I use it as a bar cue sometimes. have played with both shafts and you cannot tell a difference. I give a 100% money back with anything I sell.
