OMGWTF v CUBC Game #3 How would you play this?

This is the second shot I decided to talk about. After OMGWTF's mistake in the first game, CUBC steps up and wins that game and the next to take a two game advantage showing some solid pocketing and good position play. However, a poor shot on the 2-ball sends his cueball into the 7, leaving him tough on the 3-ball and a 7 hanging near the pocket. He attempts the tough shot and it proves to be costly as he misses the 3-ball and leaves OMGWTF a shot at her first victory (which she makes without hesitation).

Any thoughts on what his options were here?

I'd shoot the 3 just hard enough off the short rail that it ended up near the 5 hopefully going two rails and stopping behind it(in between the 5 and the long rail). I'd also try to get the cue ball behind the 4. You have to keep the position of the money balls in mind at all times. I think that was another thing that killed cubc. You can't go for the run out every time...especially with a hanger on the table.

What would be the advantage of making the money ball when you could hit it and leave it in a tougher spot like in the middle of the short rail and make her get back to the 7 in order to run out?

If I knew more about omgs game I might just make the seven ball.

I'd do this...

Actually, you should be able to get a similar angle with the cueball just by thinning the 3. In doing so, you can make sure even if you leave some sort of remote window, she's still going to be left tough. It's also easier to judge, IMO. Regardless, the 8-ball is kinda huge to hide behind.

I'd have to play the exact shot that 'skor' did. Was going to respond and saw that he/she had already diagrammed what I had in mind.
