On a losing streak

So I got a new cue (Joe Callaluca cue) and I am shooting lights out with it. I am playing some of the best pool I have played since I owned my room. The twist is, I'm losing. Seven matches in a row. I'm seriously running racks but the guys I am playing against are doing the same. Last night in our 8 ball, I missed 4 shots the whole match. The other guy missed one. I lost 5-1. The 1 I won I ran. Last two times I played him I beat him by two games. Then play a couple of sets of 9 ball. The guy gets 3 9's out of turn and 1 on the break. I lose 7-6. I ran two racks.

Although this is frustrating right now I think overall I have improved my game on the table but I think it is between the ears somehow that must be hurting me (ie- poor shot selection at a critical time; failure to make a good safety in another). Time to pull out the books I guess.

Thank you for letting me vent. My wife doesn't seem to show any sympathy to my situation.

I've been playing well but lost 3 out of last 4. Keep it up, be patient. It will come when its your turn. Just enjoy the game.

I recently went through a little of the same. To start the season I had won 18 our of my 20 games. Then the next night I lose my first 3 games and my team is sitting there looking at me like I must be quite ill. I managed to win my next two games. The night was over and my captain came over and was like "Hey what happened tonight" I had no response. A few days later I was able to get on a table again and I knew it must be something simple that caused it. Turns out it was. My pre shot routine had gotten out of whack. I was not giving shots their due. The biggest problem was that when I was examining the table and deciding which shot to play I would really take my time to figure it out. The problem came when I actually decided which shot to play I was not giving individual shots their due. I would almsot just walk up and hit them. Naturally I missed.

Whenever I struggle I go back and work on my PSR. Usually can fix a lot of things.
