After last night's practice routine, I'm still high on myself:) I've been working crazy hrs these past 2 yrs and about a yr ago I said to myself I need to get a serious practice routine if I still want to play at the level I'm at! Not that I'm anything special, just an average B to B+ player! That being said, last night I finished practice with a win against the ghost on my 9ft gc3 with 4-3/8 pockets with old cloth;) by the way, no ball in hands after the break! Now, I will say this, I did use the magic rack, and I did pattern rack, and I don't care what anyone thinks about that:) I'm still high on my play!

I scored 15-7 last night, and I'm so used to it being the other way around! Anyway, I had to share that:) I'm sure it's nothing to most but to me it's a great achievement!

Hope everyone has an awesome day:)

So you broke and ran 15 racks out of 22 games (68%) without BIH after the break? I'd bet my life savings against a B/B+ player ever achieving such a feat..........esp with old cloth and 4 3/8" pockets. If this really happened I'd say you're minimum A+ speed.

Anyway, good shooting.........I think you're better than you give yourself credit for.

Yes, but remember, I did use the magic rack and pattern racking! I have an edge with that. There is no way I could do the same with traditional racking!! I've tried! I average 8-10 games with the magic rack to 15 as opposed to 4-5 with out! I really wish I could break through to the "A" level, but it's not possible with my work schedule, I can only practice a couple hrs a night 3-4 nights a week! No room for improvement, just maintain my current ability!

And remember, it was my first time, if I do it again,,,,,?!?! We will see:)

Thanks again:)

Help me understand pattern racking

Is there a certain way to rack that is beneficial to the breaker, or for that matter not beneficial to my opponent?

Thanks

Your situation sounds just like mine. I can beat the 9/10 ball ghost with ball in hand on my 9ft diamond. Been trying to beat the 9ball ghost lately without ball in hand and its tough, even with a magic rack. I haven't been pattern racking though. Do you keep shooting if you don't make a ball though? If I don't make a ball on the break I consider it a loss.

Before this venture I was trying really hard to increase my straight pool high run and I did by getting into the 60s a few times.

I work full time and have a new born at home. So the only practice i get is when i wake up an extra hour early for work to squeeze some practice in.

I don't think that is nothing to most. Maybe to SVB, but to the average player on here like me, that is a great feat. Good job. Keep getting better, and better yet, keep enjoying the game.

GOOD JOB!! That can prove to be a great confidence builder and really boost your mental game which can boost your overall game to your target.

Good Luck!

Yes, no ball on the break is a lose! I think we are the same;) I've got a couple 70's and 1 run of 81! Pattern racking is the secret!
