I lost the sight in my right eye and
I shoot right handed .
My problem is with "Depth Perception "
When I have to " Jack-up " to shoot
over a ball or on a rail, I can make
the ball 20% of the time...
Not very good
I want to know what you do to be able
to make this shot...
Any help please
Bud

You could try lining up the shots as you normally would and then jacking up carefully while maintaining the same line of aim. A lot of good players do that for jacked up shots and jump shots as well. Hope that helps!

Take the walk around the table to provide yourself with all the information that having binocular vision should provide... Once you can see the tangent line and put that into your mind you should be able to have a better chance of controlling the spin to contact...... With no depth perception you will need to spend more time during address... That is the only downside as with one eye you won't have days where things just won't look right regardless of what you do....

The diamonds and other landmarks on the table will in short order cut down on the trips down table... Until you have hit enough ball for that to happen just take a little walk....

Maybe this is too obvious an answer: practice.

I had strong vision in one eye and very weak vision in the other until two and a half years ago when I had cataract surgery on both. I'm 45 now. I had adapted to using one eye to the extent that I now have to adapt to seeing with two. You're resilient. You'll get there. I know it's frustrating, but hang tough.

You need to get right in the preshot.............

Stand up in the preshot and get that eye lined up there.

Have your body in a good position so you you just need to lean forward or just take one step.

On the way to the shooting position from the preshot only look at the object ball. keep the cue ball in line with your periferal vision.

Once down look back at the cue ball but get your eyes right back on the object ball.

The secret here is to look only at the object ball on the way down.

I've worked with about 100 or so players that shoot with only one eye. The top ones helped me learn what was the most important parts of aiming with one eye.

You will find that this will also help you with all of your shots.

Good luck. This should work for you...........

shooting with one eye

I shoot with one eye closed. I close my left eye, while shooting right handed. when I shoot left handed however, I open both eyes.

it's a huge change for some ppl, but I would really try to give lefty a fair shot. this would probably be the most fundamental way to continue shooting.

(imo, of course, for whatever that's worth)
