One more question about the Ghost

Just wondering how you guys play it. If you're at the 6 ball ghost, do you rack 9 balls, break, and remove three balls, or just rack up 6?

Thanks.

Breaking is one of the most under-practiced skills. I would break and then remove the necessary number of balls...of course, getting rid of any problems with the layout.

There are always variations to how games can be played, but probably the "standard" for the 6 ball ghost is to rack all 9 balls and pretend you are getting the 6. So you win on a 6 ball or 9 ball combo, or running out to the 6. You don't remove any balls from the table.

This works for any number from 1 to 9 ghost.

If you are top tier pro level and go to the 10, 11, or 12 ball ghost... For the 12 ball ghost you rack 12 balls and win on a 12 ball combo or running to the 12.

I just racked 6 and played the ghost until I could beat it on a consistent basis. After I was happy with 6 ball ghost, I started playing the 9 ball ghost with weight. 9 ball ghost with the "7" was my next game after the 6 ball ghost. Stopping the cue ball on the break is pretty much the same whether you rack 6 or 9 IMO.
