One of my favorite photos from a 1985 tournament

Here's a shot of Jimmy Reid playing in the 1985 Clyde Childress tournament in Lexington. I think it was Lexington. Like him or dislike him, you gotta admit that Jimmy was (and is) pretty stylish!

I looked at the original photo and it's just too blurred to see who that is, but here's another shot, still with blurred background, but I think you'll agree that is isn't Jimmy M. watching the match.

Just below that shot is a photo of Earl in the bathroom spraying on some hair spray. And below that, a blurry shot of a match between Earl and someone you may recognize if you look close!

That's a svelte 28-year-old Keith playing Jim Rempe! A handsome little devil, ain't he!?

And you're right. That ain't Jimmy Mayata wearing the bell-bottom blue jeans in the other pictures.

That's priceless, Earl spraying his locks with hairspray!

That is The Pearl! It's kind of hard to see with those hairdos! He's all Earl on that break, though!

BTW, as an aside, the luck of the Irish allowed Keith to win the 1984 Clyde Childress Memorial tournament against Earl Strickland in the finals. A fitting victory for McCREADY as the tournament occurred on St. Patrick's Day!

You're correct, as usual! It was the Maverick Club, owned, I believe, by the now deceased Monroe Brock.

Nice shot of Keith and Jimmy! A couple of road warriors!

The "Clyde" tournament was held from 82-85 in Richmond then moved to Lexington in 86. As you said, Keith won over Earl in 84 then the results were reversed the next year!

Wow! Is Earl wearing Jordache jeans in that pic of him breaking against Keith.Man those were good times with the girls in the skin tight Jordache but I wasnt digging it when the dudes showed up in them.Plus after seeing the pic of him putting on hairspray in the bathroom I had to laugh.I whish it was 1984 again and I was in 8th grade.Those were the days.

Notice the velcro shoes Earl is wearing,i actually own a pair of velcro straps,pretty comfy kicks,lol.
