One Piece, Hard Tip

Looking for opinions on Hard, one piece tips.

Have looked at the available hardness charts (which I realize are not complete and also that the measurements might be suspect).

Have used Lepro and Triangle. Would like something harder than those, but not laminated.

This is for a player, so not a super hard breaking tip but just I guess the hardest leather playing tips.

Is Water Buffalo harder than a Triangle? Are there others I'm not seeing in the charts or for sale at the big sites?

Interested in any opinions but would also like to hear from those with the same interest or that have been on the same quest.

TIA.

Water Buffalo and Triangle? Geez haven't heard about them in decades. LOL

Yes, I remember people using them. Do they still exist?

Some of us have pretty much never stopped using Triangles, despite having tried numerous laminated tips. Outsiville’s excellent tips are processed from standard single layer tips like Triangle and LePro.

I use to use them myself.

I remember this one day in the summer. It had to be 2002 or 2003 when someone approached me with a layered Japanese tip called Moori.

The rest was history.

I think they will tick all the boxes for you and they are affordably priced. I've used several and they are very consistent too, you always know what you're getting.

Used these for years. Cant attest they're hard, yet play like a softer than hard tip. Definitely recommend based on what you're looking for. Aside from that, Water Buffalo is your obvious choice.

I had a Moori given to me about 25 years ago and it's still on my playing cue. It's time for a new one and it's funny it hasn't gone rock hard and only takes 1-2 swipes of chalk to cover the tip. I spin the CB using L-R side going 2-5 rails just for practice and the CB takes the spin and no miscues.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like WB will be the first try. Now to find a place to buy a couple where the shipping isn't more than the tips.

And Mooris haven’t been anywhere that quality for 15 years. If you’re interested in one of the few articles on tips, I wrote one in 2004 or so for InsidePOOL Magazine.
