One Pocket Etiquette - Potting ball off break

I’m jazz’d, my table is done, plays the game well for which it is built for. I like the 1P
game also, sooo…. having not found anyone in my area that is big on the game, yet,
and, wanting to adjust the game just a little to accommodate the ball return and the
narrow galley, I like the idea for each player to have their own ball return(side).

?
Would the format set-up that I’m suggesting here be too far out, acceptable for the 1P
traditionalist, I just would feel horrible if Dean had a heart attack or something for such
an idea, u no, with all he’s doing to get some action going and all u know.
I’m thinking with this game not in play in my area such an intro would be no big deal,
whatcha think…?

Tell that to the guys who have run 8, 9, 10, or 11 and out on me.

I've never heard of a ball not counting if you make a ball on the break. Never played that way and probably never will. It just doesn't happen that often.

"Side apiece," eh (as opposed to "pocket apiece")? I'd like to see some good players try that; I wonder what the stats would be like.

But what's with the 42" x 102"?

To accommodate the 4-ball rack - bent stick itself, it's length for the width, and then,
wanting to still have that long shot.

..just thinking, 1p, pockets on opposite ends turns into a half-court-crochet scenario,
might play a little faster, which could be a problem.

I practiced that 3rd ball break one day and got to where I could make a ball nearly everytime and put the cue ball on the opposite end short rail just in case I didnt. I only use that break if the table is playing funny and I can't trust my normal break although Itcould be argued that against some players its pretty effective.

I am a complete beginner at one pocket and trying to learn the ropes. Anyway today after playing 2 pretty poor sets of 8ball my friend and I decided to play some runs to 3 in one pocket.

During one of my breaks I decided to hit the 3rd ball from the top of the rack to open them up a bit. Anyway luckily I potted a ball in my pocket. From this position I had to split the pack and play some difficult positional shots to run out the rack

After running out I was really chuffed for breaking and running out. However my friend was less infused and said I was lucky getting the ball off of the break and that unlike 9ball or 8ball etc the object is not to pot a ball off of the break. Thus, there was some Etiquette involved in the game whereas I should have been more reserved and apologetic for my luck.

Thoughts please?
