Can anyone tell me where the best pool rooms to play/gamble in Austin, TX are? Also, how much one pocket is played there? I'm going there for 8 days over the week of Thanksgiving with time and money to spare. I only match up at one pocket.

Thanks.

Eric's Billiards - in austin, off of airport
GCue - in Round rock, off 35
Fast Eddie's
slick willie's - burnett rd.

I have not played pool in austin for a long time but that's the places and a new place that I know of. GCue is where th e Texas Open is played, I heard they had a 10ft heated table in the back.

Good Luck

I play at Fast Eddie's, and a few Click's around town. Eric's - good action. Slick Willie's, not much action at all, more for the bangers. **** GCUE.

It's been a while, but Eric's had the most action back in the day (except for the 24 hour place that closed, a real old-school sort of place, not too far from Eric's. Maybe it was called "Austin Billiards Club"? Anyone remember the name of that place? )

Eric's did, and still does to an extent. The crowd there is a bit rough at times, and not exactly in a part of town that I like to be late at night.

The place you are referring to is closed down as of a few years ago, I cannot recall the name for the life of me...

Is sidepocket still around?

I don't know about Gcue last time I was there was about 5-6 yrs ago, there was plenty of action there.

Yeah, but that place is a DIVE.. Literally, duct tape on the tables.. It might be a bit better now, but I haven't been there in about 2 yrs.

GCue is a hellhole... The owner is a ***** and has run off all of the old regulars, myself included. 5-6 yrs ago it was a nice place because one of his sons ran it, now the old bastard has taken over and taken it down.....

Austin Cue Club or ACC if I recall correctly. (It's been almost 15 years though, so I may be wrong). Coastydad might remember.

Yes i recieved my diploma from acc also known as austin cue club. Was there the night the place closed down due to one person getting shot in the back of the head in his car in front of the place. The funny thing was that the cops came to shut it down but they didnt have a key to lock up. It was not locked in 35 yrs.

Austin Cue Club, that's it. Thanks, that was bugging me all night. I lost my first cue, a Schmelke, there (not by gambling, but by leaving it on top of my car and driving off.) I left in 93, which was right around when it shut down.
