One pocket question!

it's all relative, they're probably all difficult shots .

This is not true.

Some of us were talking about this at the pool hall the other day and the bottom-line is that sooner than later you will have to shoot difficult shots if you want to win. And in many situations the "difficult shot" is going to be a defensive one.

Over time the player with the best "touch" will generally find a way to win.

True, you can outplay your opponent without outshooting them in one pocket sometimes, but it only gets you so far. To consistently win one pocket against good players, you are going to have to come with some tough shots at some point in the game. A lot of the time, the tough part isn't in making the ball, it's in playing position for the next ball in the same hole or rolling the ball near your hole without selling out.

The issue a lot of people have with one pocket is that they don't have the patience for the standard bumping around of balls that goes on between those tough shots.

I agree, there's so many levels to "cue ball control," and this is what must be considered on nearly every shot......the better your cue ball control, the more precisely you can play the shot.....if cue ball control is lacking it forces the player to play more general "zones".

Over time the player with the best "touch" will generally find a way to win....especially if they understand how to run balls effectively.
