One pocket rack question?

So I'm playing some $40 dollar one hole last night and were both racking for each other. My opponent didn't make a ball on the break for many games. Then I get a bad rack(the one time I didn't check it) where the corner ball(the side I'm breaking from) comes off right by my opponents hole. So I propose playing rack your own. My opponent then makes a ball on the break two times in a row(running off 3 or 4 each time), and appears to be breaking much harder. Was it just a good break or the way he was racking? I've noticed I get a better break sometimes when the corner ball opposite of the side I'm breaking from is loose (the corner ball toward my pocket). What say you?

I'd say you need to watch closely for twisted racks. where the bottom line of balls is not parallel to the foot rail, and also that the balls are not being racked high, where the balls are positioned above the spot. Either situation makes it more likely to hole a ball on the break.
