Just curious, what name players are playing in this event that started last night, December 27 at Oscar’s Hard Times Poolroom in Sacramento? The one pocket event which starts tomorrow has a much steeper $ entry fee than the 10-ball event. Just curious where I can find brackets posted for these events?

I’ll never forget when Tony Watson and Amar passed through our Poolroom in NC nearly 25 years ago and I played them both.

would like brackets as well.

t-rex, morra, 2x dominguez, mickey krause is all i know. i hope ellerman is there. some of the local shortstops are quite fun to watch, like the guy who beat morra yesterday lol. played fast too

With the reasonable $75 entry fee for the $5000 added 10-ball, I’m sure there will be a number of local players competing, just for the experience and to support the tournament.

93 players. almost all locals. i recog. like four names.

Yeah, I expect a number of the big-name one pocket players will be showing up for that event.
The poor turnout of big-name players for Oscar's tournaments was not surprising.

If he structured the payouts differently there would be better results.

Wow. Morra had 11 wins in a row after an upset in the first round.

Do you mean he pays too deep?

It’s a money grab for the owner. Big tournament in a pool room where the best player is the owner.

Normally owners don’t participate in a tournament they are hosting or a tournament director not playing in his/her weekly tournaments unless there is one more spot to be filled before it starts.

There was added money I heard so at least that kind of offsets him playing.

Who is the tournament director or the actual host?
You obviously have no clue here. This event was a memorial tourn. for Amar, a great Sac-town player and relative/friend of T. Chohan as well as most $$ players from that area. Was not intended to be a tourn. for touring pro's but for those that knew the guy. Please at least do a tiny bit of research before slinging your drivel on something you know NOTHING about.

This tournament used to be the Diamond One Pocket Open. It was renamed to Amar Kang Memorial.

Diamond Billiards and Joe Long have been adding 10,000 to this and other one-pocket events to promote the game AND attract the top players.

Unfortunately, paying out the dead-money players too heavily and giving 10-20% of the entry fees to the tournament director, who just happens to be Oscar's wife, ensures that many pros will steer clear of any big events at Hard Times since they need to place 1st or 2nd to cover expenses.

But it does make it a whole lot easier for Oscar to win his own tournaments.

I was referring to this one event which was much more of a memorial service for Amar and friends/family. TD's should bet paid but if it is 20% that's too damn much.

Here's another "memorial tournament" for the original owner of Hard Times, with Matchroom adding money.

https://digitalpool.com/tournaments/the-chuck-markulis-memorial

147 players and $20 of the $100 entry fee ($2,940) going to the tournament director.

1st and 2nd place were Shane Wolford $5,000 and Skyler Woodward $3,000

Just curious how you know the TD got $3k for this event? Obviously the room owner should get some $ cut, as the pool table rental $ revenue the room lost by hosting this event, for a room that stays as busy as this room does I’m sure was significant.
