So last night I was able to play for the first time in a few weeks. And I was in stroke. It just reminded me why I love playing pool. Only a poolplayer understands what it feels like to run out a rack; what it feels like to have the people playing at the table next to you steal a glance every time you break. There is just something wonderful about pool at its simplest form.
Yes tournaments are great and playing for money can provide an adrenaline rush, but there is nothing like being down on a shot, and everything in the background fades away; you hear nothing, you notice no one, you don't even see the balls on the table.... you just feel it. I don't know about anybody else but when I get in that state of mind I feel every contact. If there is a loose rack when I break, I can feel it in my stroke... and I guess that just makes all the more fulfilling when you can feel a perfect shot. You know the instant you hit it the it is going in and you have perfect set.
I think that is what is most addicting about the game...when you feel it; and become a part of it.
