Searing- If you can wait 5-7 years or afford one on the secondary market.
Barry,Searing,Hercek,Taz are like money in the bank they accrue interest.
Mike Bender- Every bit as good as the above but he doesnt command the public interest as the above but is respected by all above.
Prewit,Mobly, these 2 I have not played with but have exceptional feed back here
Southwest- 12 yr waiting list says alot
Gina-great cue by a Master and a reasonable wait time
Great playing Cues that are reasonable and available with in a yr
John Bender
Eddie Farris
Blackcreek-Full Splice
JR- Making a sweet Full Splice available in under a year
It depends on what you want it for. I have a Searing that I will only play in the pool hall. Most of my play is in a bar and id be in Jail if someone did something to my SEARING. If you are looking for investment as well as play go with the top 4, you can add Southwest and Gina to the top 4 as well. Still there isnt a cue maker in this list that you shouldnt be able to play the cue for a year or 5 yrs and not recoup your orginal investment back.
I am fond of John Benders cues they are not fancy but he is doing all the work by hand no computer and jigs he has made himself. He is good friends with some very renowned builders and has a very close relationship with Richard Black. He is still under a 100 cues built and his prices will go up once he hits the 100 mark. I had one of his cues that i sold for 100.00 less than I paid for it and the only reason i sold it was that i am having him build me one rather than one he had built, I also regret selling it.
Any of the cues above have the respect of the public and thier peers, but the only 2 of those listed that can be had for under 1K are John Bender and Eddie Farris. A JR full Spice can be had for $1200,00 or so under a year and believe me they are worth it in build and playability.
