open 9 ball at Sweet Tooth Billiards

Man I really wish he had the open tournie on a weekend, as that is the only time I can make it to Pheonix. If he did do that he would be the only place in town to have a regular open tournie on a weekend in Pheonix. He would scoop up alot of good players to his side of town on a regular basis. Just something to think about. Jason maybe you can bring it up to the owner?

If he did do it I would suggest it start in the afternoon. Our open tournie at Pockets in Tucson starts at 530 on Sunday night and runs late, and sometimes people dont show cause they gotta work monday.

we used to do the open on saturday nights. its 8 and under now so you could play right? I am planning on talking to him soon about changing up the tournys and formats, so i will run it by him and see what he says. i will post asap any changes.

Thanks man, yeah I am an 8 now but dont plan on being one for long. If you think about it, it would be a good move business wise. He already has the best equipment in town! You just can beat a pool room full of diamonds! If he got his liquor license nobody would go to Kolby's or Metro any more!

Since he is adding money too he will scooping alot of tucson players up as well! Pockets takes money out of the pot!!!

You would think that this would be so, but it's really not the case. Many rooms have held OPEN's and even 9 & Under's on the weekends and the numbers didn't come out to support it. Alexander's had a 9 & under and would get between 12 - 15 players each Friday Night. And they had the best equipment in town + alcohol.

Mike had OPEN's on Saturdays the other month and the numbers started at 16 players then dropped to 9 to 7 and 5. For a Saturday Night! I know Northern use to hold Open's and eventually he had to change it as well.

Many people have tried, but unless the players come out and show the support they have to go where the money is. :frown:

why do you care as you won't step foot in there? for anyone that does actually play in tournaments he adds $5 per player.

Thanks for answering my Question Jason about the $5.00/Man/Person add. I asked as I was curious, and you did not mention the amount of add in you post.

I stepped foot twice when Sweet Tooth first opened, and saw nothing to get excited about. But that is old news.

Did any of those tournies add money??? And were any of them posting Flyers on your site? Its one thing to have the tournies but another to advertise it so others know. Also since mainstreet pretty much is dead here in tucson the only weekend tournies are at pockets now. Lenny takes money out of the pot instead of adding. So if Sweet Tooths did something on saturdays with added money, or at noon to 2pm on Sunday. They would get some people to show. I would recommend open not just 9 and under. There is a reason there is rating system in AZ, its so everyone can compete on the same level. I wouldnt be able to make it every weekend, but I would definatly get up there at least once a month. Jeff Web and a few others would make the trip on the weekends for the added money. I guarantee that. Just make sure its advertised in some way so it gets known!!!
