Open Tournaments 6 Month Season?

It would be nice if the bigger promoters could get together and all run their big tournaments in a 6 month season. This way the players that didn't make enough to live on for 6 months (95% of them) could get jobs off-season. Of course the small and regional tournaments could run all year round. If I really want to think crazy, maybe about 4 promoters could split the rent on one building to hold all their tournaments in, plus the players could cut way down on travel cost if they moved close the venue. No, I don't smoke that wacky weed anymore. Johnnyt

i think thats a good idea Johny, but sometimes i think promoters want to have bragging rights, like hey look at me i put on the best tournament of the year, maybe i am wrong i dont know. I suggested a while back that all the better players move to China or whereever they can make a living easier playing pool,i like your idea better though They could work for 6 months and make a little money and play for 6 months and try to improve their game enough to only play pool. Traveling expenses have got to kill them, and probably keeps a lot of decent pro caliber players from playing in bigger events. It would make it easier for them to play and hopefully increase the field size and the payouts as well. Sounds like a great idea to me,i think thats what they thought bonus ball was going to do. You need to get one of the big promoters to get on board with that idea. Where would you have them play at though,it would have to be somewhere warmer,so the weather wasnt a factor, obviously vegas is the first thought. the problem with that is half of the players would gamble their entry fees away before they paid their entry fee...lol I am sure that the established venues wouldnt give up their turn at having a yearly event easily, because i am sure its a big money maker for their bars or Casinos. I really think thats what Charlie Williams and several others had in mind when they tried to unionize, and they couldnt sell the idea to all the players. Some of them loved the idea because if all the top players werent going to play in an event then the second tier players had a better chance to win.
