Opinion needed on phenolic jump/break ferrule

A customer gave me a jump break cue with the phenolic ferrule/tip combo to be converted to a legal jump break cue for the BCA nationals. My suggestion was to trim the "tip" flat thus creating a regular ferrule and retipping it with Samsara's leather break tip. Per the BCA policy, “The cue tip must be composed of leather, fibrous, or pliable material. Phenolic cue tips are not permitted.” It doesn't mention anything about the ferrule material so I think we're safe by doing this. Your opinions are appreciated!

Thats a pretty common way to go, easy fix and its legal. Samsara tips are legal for bca use as well. Thats definitely the way i would go, and it shoudl still break like a champ. Good luck

I like to take the ferrule down to 3/4" then put a carbon fiber pad on top then install the samsara tip. Or completely take off the one piece unit on there now and make a capped Black G-10 rod and use for the ferrule then install the tip. Either way you chose or your client chooses. The samsara tips are great for breaking and so-so for jumping. I personally like to press a superpro and use that in liu of a samsara....
