I have 2 Schons a SL-3 and SL-11, they are approx 30 years old. I want to switch to a Carbon Fiber shaft and I am trying to decide between buying Cuetec Cynergy shaft for my Schon or buy a new Cuetec Truewood cue that comes with a CF shaft. I also want to get an extension and the Cuetec cue is comes ready for an extension where as an extension for the Schon would have to be custom ordered but is available. The cost for the shaft and extension kit for the Schon would be around $700 and the a new Cuetec cue with the extension would be around $1000. Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I have a Jacoby Black for my Schons, fits perfectly. Also as to extensions, Rick Roper makes great ones for Schons. His extensions are carbon fiber, and you replace your bumper with one of his that will work with his extensions. The bumpers are great, but slightly heavier than the Schon bumper. To end up at your same weight you just need to slightly cut back your Schon weight bolt. As I have 4 different Schons, I have various weight bolts cut to give me about a 1/10 oz weight diff to play with.

I vote full Cuetec cue. Half the reason I went CF was the durability of the shaft. The other half was so I no longer worry about getting a nice cue damaged or stolen. It plays similar to my customs but if it's broken or stolen I can have another that will look and play just like it in 2 days.
I’m coming from the Predator side, I also vote get all new. The modern butts are in colors now that look better with a CF shaft. They also have the joint collar to look better with a ringless shaft. Plus as you mentioned, the extensions fit right on.
