Opinions for a cheap (and good) J/B < $100

Which model did you order with both the phenolic tip and ferrule? That's what I'm looking for, but the website isn't very specific.
It was this cue

with a shaft similar to this, except it was a metal joint pin.

The tip/ferrul is the same as mine though.

I highly recommend it. Email the sales guy (Brian) through the link on there site and tell them I recommended you and that you are interested in the same thing I got.

I bought 2 of them, one for my father at 20.5 oz and one for me at 19.5 oz.

I would like to ask a question, is it better to have a break cue to break with rather then just a normal cue, cause i don't have one myself i just use a bar cue to break with on league nights, but a teammate of myne has a predator break cue that everyone uses. Cause after reading this thread making me want to purchase one of my own. So is a waste of money to buy one or would it be worth it. Thanks. Cole.
Worth it IMO. Bar cues vary in wieghts and such and there is no way to get used to them really. Even if you use an old playing cue for breaking purposes you can get used to it and get a more consistant break.

However spending money on a breaking cue is a very good idea to, these cues are designed for exactly that to give you the best break possible. Plus you have options as well, the phenolic tip[ gives you an incredibly hard hit and makes it a cake walk to jump most balls.

IMO, a break cue is money well spent. However if you have an old cue and dont want to buy a break cue, I recommend using the old one for the time being to break with, just to get a more consistnat break. Rather then having to use a different bar cue every match.

about three weeks ago i picked up 2 fury j/b from joerackem on ebay, for the money about 120.00 each with joint protectors i am very pleased with the cue for breaking as well as jumping. I am still going through a little of the learning process on c/ball control but i think that can be expected as this is my first phenolic tip-ferrell combo.
Me too, also from joerackem. It was a very smooth transaction and I'm pleased with the cue. :)

I think it's worth it to have you're own break cue, it's the same as having your own cue, you always know how it's going to react. It doesn't have to be expensive like a Predator .

At the moment I have a Jump/Break, but I'm saving for a separate phenolic jumper so I can put a leather tip back on the jump/break. I just like the control I get with leather as opposed to phenolic, plus it's nice to have a backup cue incase you lose a tip on your playing cue(cuz some dumbass drunk can't watch where he's going)

about the one piece tip ferule, i had the same question. but i got it explained.

there are 7 different j&j j/b cue's, as u can see on the next picture

i think (at least im sure for 4 models) there are always 2 different versions.
for example on mine, the 2724 there is

2724 model
2724F model (The F version, means the tip and ferule are in one peace phenolic tip)

same as u can get the 2729 and the 2729F model.

Hey Solly,

Thanks for that info. I've been thinking about jump cues and break cues lately but don't want to spend much for something that doesn't get much use.
So when does the next tournament start? Kick those jokers butts. Are you sure they allow jumping on your tour? Some don't.

Terry

I bought a J&J jump/break on ebay for like $60 plus shipping and it's really not a bad cue. The wrap is irish linen and the joint in the butt is fast removable and not noticeable and a nice stiff shaft. If you want to know more i'll be glad to post pics and list who i bought it from.

Hey guys,

Thanks SO MUCH for all the advice and comments....I have decided to get a J&J J/B for my friend...I'm very sure she'll enjoy it!

I'm getting it off Erik Lee at erikleecues.com.....one heck of a guy if you need anything!

thanks,
ray

heya terry. Well it is this sunday. Weird enough, i qualified on the first day for the 3th national finals with a housecue AGAIN!! :D :D :D
So 3 national final qualifications in a row. 14-1,8ball, and this sunday 9ball. Weird enough, everyone knew my name when i entered the room this time. :p Weird enough 9ball is the game i never practiced, and im better in the other 2. BUT the final players arent as tough as the other 2 finals. Even 16 (out of 64 total) non top100 players qualified  (compared to 2/64 in the other finals). SO if i get a bit of luck on the draw i could earn BIG rankingpoints.
The turnup in the quali was so low, some beginners sneaked in. (probably with christmas etc, not every player had time to qualify).again with the problem of each part of the country having same amount of quali spots free. 2 places had so low turnup , everyone was qualified. dont worry , ill pm or post a update of my first 'semi' pool year at the end of this year, with all ive learned, my new goals, etc etc.

hihi will u be my first poolfan? ill give u a signed house cue :p  (only for my first 3 fans)

Raemondo: idd Eric IS a nice guy, even if i never bought something, when i was thinking of buying something from him, he always was very quick in reply's, very nice to deal with, explains all u need to know, and gives a heck of a good deal. (i mean j&j j/b AND a 3x5 case for 100$... how wrong can u go?)

Hey I just put in a bid on ebay for a j&j jump/break with the ferrule tip combo. Hopefully I can get it fairly cheap.

Hey Brent which one did you put it in for? I hope you enjoy it...I just talked to Carl and Carlscues and I'm not bidding, just buying it straight from him. Same price as his buy it now price. I'm getting the butterfly spliced one in brown.

Wanted to rehash this without starting a new thread. Did any of you guys get your J and J cues yet and what are your opinions?

I was only able to break with mine on 2 occasions (when the wife wasnt home as it is a xmas gift) but I loved it. What models did you get and what tip/ferrule type?
