Opinions on Diamondback Tips?

They're a hard tip but the one I tried kept mushrooming. I trimmed the edges on the tip like 3 times before it settled in. If you like a hard tip like the diamondback I would try a super pro. It's the same hardness but the super pro doesn't need all the maintenance. Hope this helps. Oh yeah forgot to mention I tried the laminated diamondback tip, I haven't tried the single layered one.

The Kamuis are nice but my second favorite tip is the sniper. If you like a triangle then you'll like the sniper. You have to let the sniper break in because it hits soft at first but then it firms up and hits really nice. Almost like a good triangle. And the sniper lasts for quite a while.
I've had one and I'll say it played decent. If you keep it scuffed and shaped(a bit of a task for these tips) then it will play about as well as any harder tip out there IMO. I much prefer a Kamuii or Moori Quick though. Less maintenance and more consistent performance. The cueshop I use charges about 20 for a Diamondback and 25 for Mooris and Kamuiis which made my decision easy. Some areas you may have to pay a significant premium on the Moori or Kamuii tips. Best advice I can give you would be to try it out and see how you like it, there is no magic tip to use.

diamondbacks. I think they're kinda not bad. Just make sure you don't get them confused with black diamonds. They are somewhat cushiony. I would go with Hercules or Wizard. Sniper, Moori, Kamui and anything else in that price range is just flat ridiculous to me. I understand they last a while, but come on.
Hercules pig skin 23 layer is just as good if not better in my opinion. They play the same the the entire time you have it on. Don't forget about the infamous milk duds. They're easy to make and they are top notch. I've been experimenting with the 23 layer pig skin and 23 layer water buffalo. The pig is the bomb. The WB is better off not laminated.
There are so many tips out there it's really ridiculous. If you didn't know a lot about tips, I would stay with just a regular Triangle or even an Elk Master right out of the box. If you want to spend the money, get Kamui's. If you don't, get a Hercules or a Wizard.

I've been playing with a diamondback for 3 years. They are the softest layered tip I've ever played with period. They will mushroom 3-4 times in their lifespan, which is less than a year if you play daily. They grip the cueball HUGE. No scuffing necessary. Never miscue. These tips need 2-3 weeks to break in properly. If you like a soft soft tip, this is the tip for you. For me, the softer the better, so this is the tip i use.
