Opinions on Pocket Reducers

I was looking at the pocket reducers, and they look like they would be good to practice and develop accuracy. I read some previous posts on them and they seemed to have kind of mixed reviews. I was wandering what most people think of them for practicing accuracy. Also, I read that there is only the pro pocket reducers out now, but there used to be a better leather set. I was wandering what people think of the old set, and where can one purchase them.

Are you out of you mind? I want to see some pocket 'expanders' come on the market. Makes practicing much easier.

I have them and I use them, I like them. I use them as you stated to help with accuracy. I find it helps me find the center of the pocket. They help your concentration too. Using them can be frustrating at times since a well struck ball that normally falls will be rejected. But if you practice with them the right way it WILL improve your game.

Pocket reducers are great for practicing 30-45 degree cut shots into corner pockets, which is one of the core shots you have to have down in pool.

Pocket reducers are useless for practicing shots that are within six inches of the rail.

I have actually been using reducers for the last 5-6 days or so, and have mainly been using them to get rid of the "jumpiness" I have noticed in my stroke the last few years. I have noticed some improvement, and I will be taking the reducers back to Texas with me, and if I keep up the practice, I think the improvement should last.

I love mine. They really make you increase your level of focus. There are certain shots you can't shoot with them, but all in all, they will help improve your accuracy and concentration.

A cheap way to make the pocket opening smaller is use 2 coins that are attached to a piece of cellophane tape. Space the coins to the amount of opening that you feel comfortable with. Start with one inch and then adjust from there either up or down. Place that in the pocket opening and practice shooting the ball between the coins. If the ball hits one of the coins it will either make a noise of won't get past it. This will help pin point your aim better than reducers. Cheaper too.

If you're talking about these,

I hate mine.

I bought these all leather pocket reducers about 15 years ago, give or take a few years. They are excellent but I do not believe the company is in business anymore, if they are, I highly recommend them. Because of the design, they were only available for the 4 corner pockets but came in 3 different sizes.

Our home table is primarily used for social gatherings so I like to keep the pockets fairly large, these work great if I need to practice.
