Opinions on Steve Klein Cues...

If you currently own, or have ever owned, any of Steve Klein's cues, tell us a little bit about it and what you thought of it playability-wise....anything from a sneaky to the most elaborate of customs (I saw one at Joe Salazar's booth at the DCC -- 4 points of ebony with green and black veneer pattern and windows and some ivory inlays, joint, etc...man, it looked friggin' nice!). Maybe compare it to another similar playing cue you have/had?

And if you want to post pics, feel free to do so. Either way, appreciate the feedback!

Klein Cuesticks

I started noticing more & more Klein cues around the Houston area. I played with a couple and really like the feel. I talked to Klein and told him what I wanted and ordered a cue from him. Right after I ordered it a guy in one of the pool halls here needed cash and sold me his Klein. I love that cue, it feels great and I love teh shaft taper. My new Klein came about a week ago. I like it even more! It plays and feels about the same. The guy who sold me his wanted to buy it back but I'm keeping them both. I am told that more and more people are buying his cues and that he is getting more well known. His website is prety neat. As a comparison it feels like a Dayton or a Carmeli. A friend of mine says it feels softer than a Southwest.

Hi.

I grabbed a Kein cue off the bay recently. Its a fairly simple design but well done. Birdseye forearm and sleeve with a purpleheart handle. Simple black and white ringwork at all points with black collars. SW pin. The work is very clean. Unfortunately the guy that had it had the taper sanded down to a quasi parabolic shape. The cue still plays very well. It is going back to him for a refinish and new shaft. Going with that is a Titlist for conversion.
Steve also did a balabushka replica that another gentleman owns. Incredible work from the pictures. Steve seems very friendly and easy to work with. I have been talking to him extensively about converting an old BBC or Hoppe to carom style but built for 8/9 ball. He is def game for the project.

I bought 2 cues from Steve about a year ago an 05 and an 06, the 06 is a cored cue. The 05 that I got is nice with metal rings Steve does not make many cues with metal rings. I like the way they feel and play. Steves a real nice guy to deal with. Now that he is building fancier cues, I will order another one in a few months.

i bought one awhile back and it felt great first time i hit with it. it felt like a was playing with it for years. he will be building me another in the near future. can't go wrong with them and he is a great guy to deal with. we have been e mailing back and forth and he always returns the e mails and answrs questions.

i bought 2 of steves cues off ebay, i have to say i didnt really like the hit on them, they just felt dead to me. At the time i was still "searching" for the type of cue i wanted, and it seems like i play best with metal jointed, piloted shaft cues such as my schon. I will say i sold both cues and got my money back no problem, and the guys i sold them too loved them, so maybe its just me.
