Opinions on the LUCASI HYBRID CUES

I'm thinking about getting a Lucasi Hybrid cue, namely the LHE-10. Just wondered has anyone tried them and what did you think of them? The Hit? Fit? Finish? What would you compare the hit to? Predater? OB-1? Thanks for any info

A friend of mine bought a Hybrid jumper and let me try it out.
Absolutely effortless. If I didn't have a Frog, I'd be buying the Hybrid.
I'm not a great jumper by any means but I was popping balls at approx 4". Not consistently but with a little practice, you could.
If you can't jump with a Hybrid, somethings wrong.
I don't care for the cues with rubber grips but it lends itself well with the jumper.
OK Lucasi, you can send me a comp jumper now.

Thats very insightful but what does this have to do with my post?

I would imagine the rubber grip. I have demo'd one for a short time and was not a huge fan of the grip. If I was going that route I would probably get a poison. The hit IMO is not bad though.

I would think anyone who would take the time to comment, even though you don't actually have one of the mentioned cues. Would possibly do the research and see what model I'm talking about LHE-10 (looks like a regular cue) the wrap looks kinda like leather not one of the tennis racket looking ones!

My fault. The golf comment through me off, shouldnt have assumed. For the money, not a bad cue. I know a guy in our league that has always played Lucasi and got one , I havent had a chance to shoot with it or even see the cue. Just talked to him on the phone a few days ago, no complaints from him. Am I wrong though, or is the wrap still rubber?

Hi

Here is a previous discussion which was running through a lot of aspects -
anything from US made, pollution and grip :

Regarding the grip, I have many customers which have been gripping a demo
I have and there has actually been a majority which said "wow that grip is REALLY nice".

Here is also another review :

Do a search in the "Cue Review" section and I think you have a good couple of
saturday hours reading :)

Hope it helped.

Let me put you out of your misery. Fit and finish is absolutely fine. You can beat the snot out of them and they do quite well. I wish some of my $1000 cues could say that! Despite having a qr joint, it hits great. The shaft is a predator, just with 8 pie pieces instead of 10. same hit. Made in the same factory China. If never tried the golf grip on a cue, you are missing something. Not as grippy as a no wrap, so the hand can move a bit, but none of the slipping associated with a linen wrap. I played against a guy with the black model and boy, what an attractive cue. Look at Nielsen's Billiards store on fleabay. Nice deal. Break stick and case included. I'm going to give mine away and pick one of the newer black ones up myself.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the info. The black model was the one I was looking at getting! Rep to you both

To throw my two cents in. I owned an LHE-30 for a while. Here's what I liked and didn't like:

Likes:
- the rubber-ish wrap is the closest thing to wrapless I've played with. I like the tackiness of wrapless cues and the rubber was pretty good for this.
- the shaft plays pretty close to my 314-2 deflection wise
- finish was pretty good and the wrap/grip was well installed. No visible glue lines

Dislikes:
- The ferrule was definitely a different material than what's on my 314-2. After a couple of months it swelled and was no longer flush with the ferrule. You could also see a very visible glue line between the ferrule and the shaft. Eventually, the glue looked like it was breaking down.
- Though the finish on the butt was good, you could very obviously feel the ring work.
- The butt was a little thin under the wrap. I'm used to shooting with sneaky petes and felt that this cue just wasn't thick enough around the wrap area. This might have to do with wrap being thicker but squishier than linen.
- The shaft had a touch of roll when I first got it. The role eventually got more pronounced after a few months. That's neither here nor there, but I will say that all the 314-2's and OB-1's that I've own have always pretty much stayed the same roll wise whereas this shaft clearly moved.

Overall, I liked it but not well enough to keep playing with it past a couple of months.

I bought it from Nielsen's and got a very good deal at the time.
